❛  i spy a private eye.  ❜  the  voice  comes  from  above  the  person  on  street  level,  up  in  the  fire  escape  where  nightwing  is  perched  like  some  kind  of  overly-friendly  gargoyle.  ❛  you must be new. or  at  the  very  least  you’re  very  good.  i  haven’t  seen  you  around  before.  ❜  

he  grabs  the  edge  of  the  escape  with  both  hands  and  flips  his  body  over  the  edge,  dropping  to  land  on  the  ground  in  front  of  the  woman.  ❛  i  think  this  is  the  part  where  i’m  supposed  to  say  ‘what’s  a  pretty  girl  like  you  doing  in  an  alley  like  this’  but  i  think  i’ll  save  it  because  i  bet  i  can  guess.  ❜  

he’s  got  a  pretty  strong  suspicion  they’re  after  the  same  thing.  or  rather,  looking  for  the  same  person.  a  girl  named  jessie  simmons,  disappeared  three  weeks  ago.  cops  aren’t  doing  much.  don’t  care  to  hunt  down  what  they  think  is  just  another  troubled  teen  runaway.  to  say  nothing  of  the  fact  that  she’s  one  in  a  string  of  missing  gay  kids  from  the  past  several  months.  a  case  they’d  rather  just  wash  their  hands  of  entirely.  it  makes  dick’s  stomach  turn  with  anger.

"---- Heh. And who the hell are you?" Dabi's sure as hell never seen this person around before. And how stupid! Thinking they even stand a chance! They must be looking for a fight, right?                Any other person may have, even should have, shown some level of fear or concern. But Isaiah? He was purely elated, terrifyingly so, just at the mere thought of the potential that kind of power could do. “You been able to do that for long?” While it wasn’t electricity, hand was raised to show a slowly growing ball of fire.                Face was made at the other as the witch continued to lead the way in a haste that implied that potential disaster was imminent. “Well, it’s not like the vision I was given was all that clear. Wouldn’t that just make my life so much easier?” She had no intention to snap at them, but the splitting headache that came with this sort of vision was giving her a hell she didn’t have the chance to deal with. “I mean, do you want me to write everything I got crammed into my brain so you can try and decipher all of that?”

               Hair was tossed over shoulder, an attempt to look as confident as possible despite the fact that she was crumbling from within. “We’re not dead. We’re gonna be fine. Totally fine. We can get out of here. No problem.” And for someone trying so hard to be that kind of confident, she really wasn’t able to pull it off.
