He wasn’t bright but he definitely wasn’t dense. Sure he messed up but it’s not like he did it on purpose. Max was always more than happy to do as he’s told, he likes to help and prove himself to be useful to others. But now, he was bombarded by some strong emotions that he’s only felt once before; the same he felt when he was finally face to face with his parents before slaughtering them. A cocktail of anger and hurt overwhelmed him. Nothing got to him more than being berated, especially by those he could at least kind of look up to. His face was hot and his throat felt more lumped up than it usually did. The Hillbilly could feel tears welling up in his eyes and the urge to strangle him grew within him.  But he knew he couldn’t do anything to him. Not with the Entity’s ever-watching eye(s) looming over them. Instead, he just bares what teeth he has, grunts, and shoves Evan away from him before storming off. Nothing he ever does satiates him and even when he does mess up once in a while, he’s just a major screw up in the Trapper’s eyes. Who cares what he thinks of him! He doesn’t need this right now. He doesn’t need him.
