Perhaps too simple, however.

Olberic closes his eyes a moment, accompanied with a quiet exhale.

“ Aye, it does. ”

Sometimes too long, at least for himself.

“ Alas, time cannot erase wounds entirely, if they run deep enough. They scar, and serve merely as a reminder. ”

His words trail of, somewhat. And for a second, he falls still, before shaking his head dismissively.

“ Ah, my apologies, pay me no mind. I’ve no need to brood so. ”

All things considered, ‘twas not all that long ago. But it certainly oft felt like that.

Cyrus had approached Olberic, and began to ask him questions.

Questions about things the warrior had believed he was able to hide fairly well, but… apparently that was not the case.

They spoke back and fourth for a good while, Olberic continuing to wonder what Cyrus was doing, and he found himself often looking at the notes Cyrus had been rapidly making. Gods only knew what they said, though.

Eventually, Cyrus began to explain something. Some things the scholar had noticed about Olberic’s behaviour.

As Cyrus explained it, Olberic found he understood it. Or… maybe not understood (at least not entirely), but recognised it. Some things more than others. Cyrus mentioned that there was not much information on it, but… Olberic found he did not mind that. Everything was beginning to make more sense.

It was like, after all this time, he was finally beginning to understand himself.

The whole day Ignis had watched how his friend’s behavior acting quite odd than usual, starting to make him worry if everything was alright. At first, he thought it’s the best to keep the other alone as there could be a simple explanation for it? The adviser knows how his friend could be easily lost in the books he was reading, forgetting completely the world around him. It was one of the things that made him sympathetic for Ignis since both had a lot in common as love for books was the biggest of them all. There weren’t many people who he could talk about such things who even enjoyed the conversation without ending bored in minutes. One who he had always been a good company was Gladio but they weren’t having completely the same taste in genre. Some hours had passed and to dinner time, Ignis still found the chair of Cyrus being empty. Maybe it would be the best to check up on him to see if everything was alright as even bringing him a plate of dinner. “May I come in?” He waits at the door after a knock, leaning carefully closer to check up if any sounds were coming from the other side.

     Truly, their conversation is unstoppable. It goes on and on... onlookers wonder if they’ll ever tire.
