My Book

I have started writing a book, there is no way i can publish it but i figured maybe i could post some up here on tumblr and get a bit of publicity. I just wanted to know if anyone is interested. It is kinda a shadowhunter-y theme. if you are interested repost

i think im just very wound up (health, exam, hosting an event on monday with a very disjointed team, leading a discussion in class, my stepmom giving birth tomorrow) but my friends hit me up at like 10:20pm today asking me to come over get drunk and watch twilight. and i was like no sorry guys i can't. i am across the city at my dads house. i have to babysit my brother while they are at the hospital tomorrow. i also literally don't have a car. and they kept calling me trying to convince me to come over. and being like booo why won't you come? and im just kinda pissed now because whenever they want me to hang last minute or come over drunk near midnight im like cool come over id love to hang. but im just so drained right now that im really angry about this. need to sleep

I finally finished my book today, or rather I finished my first draft of a graphic novel script that will probably never be illustrated because I don’t have that kind of skill. It’s about a nuclear war and one chronically ill man’s attempts to keep hold of his humanity at the churning bottom of a river of blood.  Think of a comic book version of something like Threads or The Day After.

I feel like I achieved half of something, maybe 30% of something. I hope to find some advice on how to edit the thing eventually and then in however many years, perhaps be able to afford a real illustrator. Even if I do manage that the chances of it being published are miniscule at best.

17. favorite AU to write I’ve only ever written half a thing not in canon and it’s not even published yet. Unless you count LaFT, which is not reallllly AU, but more… canon divergence? Anyway, I don’t really have a favorite yet, but I’m enjoying the hell out of the one I’m writing. It’s for an exchange, so y’all will get to read it soonishly.

46. share a scene of a story that you haven’t published yetThis is an excerpt from something I will probably never publish because of how close the topic cuts to reality and the general sensitivity of it all, but it was important for me to write it for personal reasons. At the end of the day, I’m proud I did. But I’m putting it under a read more because of triggers and things (fair warning).

“I don’t–” Jungkook started, but he felt the tears press inescapably against his eyes. He blinked hard, but it didn’t help. “I can’t.” He swallowed hard and stared at the floor. “It’s nothing.”

The lie kept spilling from his mouth. He couldn’t help it. He realized he didn’t have any other words but those two: it’s nothing. It had to be nothing, because if it was something? Then it was everything.

He felt everyone’s stares boring into his skin, but he didn’t look up.

“Are there more?” Seokjin asked, his tone oddly business-like. Jungkook shook his head. They both knew it was a lie. “Show me.” Jungkook’s hands began to shake. A new emotion, over-riding the fear and the guilt, swept through his chest.

Shame.

Burning, putrid, ugly shame. It was different than his frustration with his own failure or his worry that he was letting them all down. He was ashamed of what had been done to him. For one startling moment of clarity, he knew that what that man had done was wrong. But the second Jungkook tried to latch onto that knowledge, it slipped through his fingers like smoke and left him doubting double.

“Jungkookie,” Namjoon said slowly. “Do you want me to send everyone out? It can be just you and me.” Jungkook shook his head sharply. “Or, just you and Seokjin-hyung,” he amended quickly. Jungkook shook his head again.

“I don’t–” Jungkook started. He felt like he hadn’t completed a sentence in hours instead of mere minutes. He cleared his throat. “I’m really fine. You don’t need to see. It’s all fine. I have this handled, okay?” The room was silent for a long moment. It was tantamount to admitting everything, which Jungkook knew was risky. But he couldn’t let this go further.

“What… does that mean?” Hoseok ventured. 

“It means,” Jungkook said, taking a deep breath and looking up. His mask was back in place, months of conditioning taking over. “It means that you don’t need to worry about it or know about it. It’s better if you don’t. Just trust me, okay? It’s best for everyone if we all… pretend this conversation never happened.” 

What had started as one of the most exciting days for them had quickly turned into a nightmare. If there was any way to reset it, Jungkook was going to try it.
