wait tvd as in the vampire dairies, books? I've read them too when I was like 13/14, probably even younger. I think I got to part 5? I don't remember much besides that they were A Trip lol. I also know I've hated Bonnie so much, but like I was 13 so who knows what was going on in my head then. I was so confused when I started watching the show and it was so different. Also sorry if this is about something else and I'm just rambling to you about some unrelated vampire novels lol.

Hi I'm not sure if you're still answering those questions but if yes: I'm fascinated by tea leaves reading, I've done some basic research already, but I'm lost when it comes to reading symbols, there are so many different meanings for them out there how do I know which one to use? Same with cup parts I've seen many layouts and I'm not really sure which to follow, are things on the left negative or past? Those near rim important or in the near future and so on. Thank you for help!

So the first misconception about tasseomancy/tea leaf readings is the idea that there are “set meanings” for the different symbols in the cups. The same can be said about dream analysis. Unlike tarot/runes/oracle cards, which tend to come with a little guidebook on what various things mean, readings like tasseomancy rely heavily on what your understanding of a certain piece of imagery is.

For example, in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the famous example is that when Harry looks in his cup, he sees “the Grim”. That is because the ‘cultural’ expectation is that the symbol of a black dog is one of dread; one that comes quite heavily from British folklore, may I add. But as we later learn, the dog in his cup is not a symbol of dread and death but instead one of optimism; because it means, to Harry, a way to escape from his life with the Dursleys, and a tie to his parents. In the future, Harry is likely to see dog symbolism and not think of grimness, but of Sirius. 

Tasseomancy is the same. Try to throw out the idea that things need to mean something specific, and start thinking about what they mean to you. There’s no harm in relying on cultural ideas and common things that something symbolizes but if they really don’t resonate with you... don’t let that bother you.

As to the placements in the cups, I tend not to read them myself but here are the notes that I’ve taken myself, in the past:

If you want to read your cup in the sense of “what to keep in mind in the upcoming months”, read clock-wise from the top and divide the cup into twelve. If you are doing the reading in June, for example, the first 1/12th of the cup covers June, the next covers July, etc etc. The portion(s) with the heaviest collection of leaves will be the busiest. You can also theoretically look back on the past twelve months by going counter-clockwise.

Leave closest to the centre of the cup are the most relevant to your question. Leaves on the outside edge - especially on the rim of the cup or the high sides - can essentially be disregarded as interference. I would split it into about four sections, for ease.

Leaves that are underneath the handle can represent the querent, if you’re going by the more traditional route of having them drink from the cup you read from.

Leaves closer to the dominant hand of the querent can be read as future concerns, while those closer to the other hand can be read as past concerns. (Note: this method isn’t really compatible with the monthly overview method.)

Neat concentrations tend to mean a clear path, while more scattered leaves demonstrate a definite anxiety or uncertainty about the question or the answer. Sometimes, leaves that are too scattered basically say “try again”.

🥓 — Tell you why everyone would love my WIPs!

Oh gosh personal positivity is something I struggle so much with but OKAY LET’S GO.

I think people will really love how detailed my backstories are, how many twists and turns happen in the plot! I had absolutely so much fun integrating everyone’s backgrounds into the story along with the worldbuilding, and I absolutely can’t wait to give people the chance to read it! Also just... the cast is pure and utter chaos. The character interactions are hectic and I enjoy writing it oh so much. XD

🍟 — Talk about another writeblr’s WIP that everyone should check out!

GO HECKIN’ CHECK OUT @livvywrites‘ THE MARTYR QUEEN (and actually the whole entire series while you’re at it--I’m currently obsessed with Pirate’s Bane personally). THE WORLDBUILDING. HAS ME IN AWE. The magic system is so in-depth and makes absolutely so much sense, the locations and the cultures and the societies??? IT’S. HECKIN’ INSANE HOW MUCH THOUGHT LIVVY’S PUT INTO THIS.

And that’s only the setting. Her characters!!! Are so wonderfully lovable, with such a range of personalities and histories, and such marvelously fascinating backstories and motives! I get such an epic sense about her wip in its entirety, it feels like one of those wonderful fantasies that you can dig into so deep and read tens of times over still finding new details of interest! 

Not to mention her lovely writing style! I adore her dialogue, it’s so realistic and characteristic with unique voices for each of her ocs, and her description is just utterly beautiful. GO CHECK IT OUT.

@nmcwriting! I adore all their WIPs, and their writing, and their blog (it’s so well put together, unlike mine, haha), and just. Everything. But I’ve been too intimidated to say hello, haha! They’re awesome though, definitely go check them out!

I’m still a very new writeblr so I don’t know many folks, but if I had to choose, probably @uraniumwriting! They were the first writeblr to pay any attention to me, to interact and welcome me and show interest in any of my WIPs, and it was wonderful! Their writing is super awesome too and you should totally check their blog out!

🥞 — Talk about how much I love an OC of mine!

Oh gosh, I love all of my OCs, it’s so hard to choose one. My first instinct is to go for Flynn Howlett, since I’ve loved him since I created him… but he’s the main character of my NaNo project, METANOIA, so let’s go with someone some of you don’t know but that I adore.

Jacob Graham, one half of a detective duo, wishing he was more than just a half of it. See, Jacob Graham is bisexual. And Alec Rhodes, his detective partner, is someone he wishes would be his life partner too. The book he’s from is ABSINTHE, the story of the Green Fairy - a criminal that uses the substance that is absinthe to kill his victims. Jacob and Alec are working to hunt them down and rid the city of their menace once and for all.

I love Jacob because he’s the human side of the book, in a way. Alec is hyper-focused on the job, and while he has soft moments with Katya, his fiancee, his character is primarily centered around the need to lock up the killer he has been keeping an eye out for since he started as a beat cop.

Jacob though, he has two conflicts. He’s just as invested in catching the killer, but he’s also struggling to suppress and cope with the feelings he has for his partner - who is very much straight. I just feel like we don’t get to see these sorts of stories often and I wanted to portray it with Jacob. 

Also he’s just a sweetie. He likes cracking jokes, having parties - but not super crazy raves, more like house parties - and loves to sing songs from musicals out of nowhere. He loves to dance. His apartment is the perfect combination of “a total mess” but an organised one. Organised chaos. One of his favourite terms to describe himself.

I dunno. I just love him. I can’t wait to get back to writing ABSINTHE and writing him.
