Distance Between | Reed & Sue
Time to think seemed to be in abundance lately, when Franklin was not front and center. She adored her son, but with everything the silence was a most welcome companion. To walk through the park, halfheartedly appreciating the scenery, while her mind ticked over. So many thoughts, so many questions. Yet answers were harder to grasp. Not when it meant that everything would and could change. This was not just about her, it was about something more. It was about family, and where they would go from here.
But over time it had become harder for Sue to think only of what she wanted. It was always about us. About all of them. But for how much longer could it continue to be that way? Was it fair to try and hold it all together when it only hurt them all?
Fingers dug deeper into her pockets, frowning slightly. That seemed to be all that filled her mind lately. Even her work had taken something of a back foot.
Dusting and dropping on to a bench, Sue sighed and turned her head heavenward, as if seeking some divine intervention. An answer from some higher being to make the choice so much easier. Eyes closed with a wistful sigh, taking the moment to clear her head. To think of nothing. The running thoughts began to slow, hunched shoulders beginning to relax.
As eyes opened again, Sue found herself truly appreciating the beauty of the park. The silence. Even the gentle chill that trickled through her jacket. That was until her eyes clapped on to a familiar figure, every muscle tensing. Eyes quickly found something else to look at, body turning away slightly in the hopes she would remain incognito. There was the temptation to simply render herself invisible and slip away, but something prevented her doing that. That forced her to stay sitting.
