there is an odd level of guilt that settles across his features. if it hadn't succeeded in making her feel weird, eve may have laughed about it. after all, those puppy dog eyes were mastered with a skill she could not rival. instead, she is fairly quick to turn her back towards him, and tend to cleaning up their makeshift campsite. staying in the woods overnight had been the plan, but sharing the night together was something spontaneous. when her belongings are gathered and moved to her saddle, she eventually casts her eyes to him, smile pulling at the corners of her parted lips. he wasn't going to let this go, was he?
she heaves a sigh before finding a place to sit. what was there to talk about? they slept together. it was all in good fun, wasn't it? ever since they met, eve couldn't deny a certain level of attraction towards him. a man who could carry himself, a man with a dark past, a man carrying a name that people feared. every aspect of him played into the night unraveling the way it did, and there was hardly any regret settling in her chest.
❝ what is there to talk about, kayce? ❞ a legitimate question. ❝ we had ... fun. together. and one might argue that it was a smart decision because it kept us warm. but, i don't think it needs to be talked about ... it's not anything serious. you don't ... do stuff like this? often? ❞ of course he didn't. that's why they were having this talk in the first place, right? @untamedson
