some doodles I did a while ago of Opter and his coworker/friend Uofhnenne (pronounced oof-nen)
Opter is a very jolly, exuberant old man (probably because he has the energy of a 30 year old) and Uofhnenne is very stoic and reserved
but they get along well, especially compared to their coworkers on the Mage Panel- who, for the most part, are all sour elderly conservatives trying to "preserve the old ways" (even though Opter is older than all 3 of them, and Uofhnenne too)
Uofhnenne does not care at all for junk food, but Opter is always trying to get her to try some when they hang out (Opter's body uses a lot of energy, between doing crazy magic and being really really big, so he eats like eight meals a day)
they like to go for walks through the market and talk about things other than politics and magic, as a break from what they do for a living. they've become good friends
(in the North, at the University of Uchtensneid, there's a (politically) powerful group called the Convocation of Magics. basically, they get to decide all the different official forms of magic, and they also get quite a big say in laws and whatnot across the continent. leading the Convocation of Magics is the Mage Panel, five wise individuals who are all extremely powerful magic users. the convocation and the panel have been around for a long-ass time, but the members are all different, since they get switched out every now and then. their main job is to make decisions about the (currently 70) forms of magic- deciding what goes where when new techniques or forms are discovered, changing what is or isn't part of a form (like, whether or not potionry should be divided into normal beverages and special beverages, or if fungalics still needs to be its own form, etc). but that doesn't happen super frequently, so a lot of the time they just teach at the university, or write about magic, etc. I didn't mean to yap so long about this lol)
