It really shouldn’t come as a surprise, but it’s only recently occurred to me that all the members of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain are very quietly but quite completely unhinged.
(I love them a lot 💜)

My ukulele group went to go see The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain over the weekend, and verily it were awesome. Here’s my write-up about it.

A great tribute to Kitty Lux who founded the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.
It is with great sadness that we announce that Kitty Lux, founder and partner of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, died peacefully yesterday surrounded by family and close friends.

RIP Kitty.
Family outing with these two to see the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain at Blackheath Halls. Nice birthday present for one's 80th! #ukes #uogb #blackheathhalls #turning80 #family #concerthall #music (at Blackheath Halls)
ukulele dream, now with bonus pseudo-Martin Freeman
So I dreamt that I was a member of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, and travelling around by train for a gig. Weirdly, I was worried about the same things in that dream/fantasy world that I am right now irl: ie, getting carpal tunnel and getting my main uke repaired/set up before I can play it regularly again.
Then Martin Freeman was telling me about a ukulele concert he was going to that night (the one that we were putting on), only he seemed to have no idea I was a member of the group, because he went into this long rant about how the ukulele really wasn’t a nerdy instrument at all and how it wasn’t uncool, etc, and I just sort of nodded and went along with it, knowing he had no idea I was playing at the show later, and hoping I could see his reaction later that night when I played my solo fingerstyle version of Life on Mars.
Wish I’d stayed asleep long enough to have actually played the gig. :/
Thanks to the @avalontheatre and @theukes for this wonderful day ! The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain are lots of fun-- on and off stage! #uogb #ukulele (photo by Jodi Cartwright)
