PARKER HASSAN is NINETEEN, she is a SOPHOMORE and is majoring in COMMUNICATIONS. They are a PLEDGE in ETA BETA and are told that they resemble ELIZA TAYLOR.

MEET PARKER

Growing up, Parker was always really close to her dad. Tom Hassan was a minor league baseball player that had almost made it to the pros before he suffered a career ending injury, and Parker had inherited his athletic ability. She was able to throw a baseball at the ripe young age of three, and by the time all of her friends were starting tee-ball, she had already joined little league. Practicing brought Parker and her dad closer together, and she knew if she looked out from the pitcher's mound, her dad would be in the stands watching.

And then one day, he wasn't.

When Parker was a sophomore in high school, and the only girl on the boy's baseball team, she was a pitch away from throwing the first no-hitter in her school's history. She was on fire, and nothing could break her focus. She looked up to meet her dad's eyes, like she always did before she was about to throw the last pitch, and Tom Hassan wasn't there. Parker lost her focus and the batter hit a home run; her team still won the game ultimately, but Parker still felt like she lost.

After that day, Parker gave up on everything. She wasn't ready to take on so much responsibility; she was fifteen, for crying out loud! She did everything she could to stray away from responsiblity: she quit the baseball team, her grades slipped, she started hanging out with an undesirable crowd, and she discovered the joys of smoking pot. While it didn't mask her problems or help her forget, it helped her gain insight on them, and helped her move past them. She had other methods to help her forget, anyways.

When the time came to leave for university, Parker went as far away as she could get without having to learn a new language. England seemed like a pretty chill place to live for a few years, and a long ways away from North Carolina, and the University of Lancaster was one of the only schools that actually accepted her. She quickly submerged herself into the college party scene, partying her troubles away and ignoring her responsibilities. She was very well-liked amongst the student body, but quickly became one of the faculty's least favorite students--when she actually showed up for class, that is.

Parker started her radio show towards the end of her freshman year at the campus radio station. It took a lot of work to convince her professor to actually let her start one, since she wasn't exactly known for being "responsible", but with months of research and planning to back her up, her professor finally gave in. With Parker's popularity around campus, "Park Talk" quickly became the most listened to radio show in the area, and once it became available for download on iTunes, the most downloaded podcast. For the first time since her dad left, she actually felt as though she could accomplish something.

With her grades finally high enough to make her eligible to pledge, Parker jumped at the chance to join Eta Beta. She was already tight with most of the house anyways; officially joining them was the logical next step. But as nice as it is to have a "family" again, Parker can't help but think about graduation, looming in the distance. She wants to care about her future, she really does, but it's so much easier to drink her troubles away.

CONNECTIONS

LEILA BROOKS: Leila and Parker were roommates their freshman year, and they became fast friends. They’d stay up late together, party together, occasionally make out when they were drunk; to this day, they’re practically inseparable, and it’s rare to see one without the other. But Parker’s terrified for the day when Leila inevitably leaves her, because she’s not sure she can function without her. DYLAN SIMON: Dylan is Parker’s other best friend, the one she ends up in bed with almost every time after they drink together--in a totally non-sexual way. Dylan is her favorite warm body to cuddle up to, and he’s one of the few people who doesn’t judge her for her dependence on her vices. She totally wouldn’t mind marrying him as a last resort when they’re older like they talk about, but he deserves better than that and Parker knows it. SPENCER HASSAN: Spencer is Parker’s nerdy little brother, though most people don’t even know she has a nerdy little brother. She left him and their four younger brothers to fend for themselves after their dad ditched out, and she feels super shitty for that. She’s never been very good at apologizing, though, no matter how big of an apology he deserves.

task 004: first day

"Okay, so, this over here is where girls will bask in their desperation and wait for Ashton Lowe to come around so they can beg for him. Remember that name. He's an asshole."

Emma nodded and scribbled the note on her oversized map of the University of Lancaster that could stretch across the entirety of the floor of her dorm if she really wanted it to. "Ashton Lowe. Poohead. Got it." 

Parker stopped for the fifty thousandth time to say hello to some of his friends, although she was pretty sure he was just hitting on most of the girls he gathered around. She tugged on his bag to get him moving again; it was a technique she found that worked but left her older brother ticked off and complaining about how he couldn't seem to get with half of them. "Again, Emsicle, don't pull me away from people. They'll know you're my nerdy little sister before I even tell them I have a nerdy little sister," Parker huffed, a slight smirk across his face.

Rolling her eyes, Emma folded her map once, twice, three times before it wasn't an abnormally large size to carry. The wind had nearly blown it across campus a few times, and she couldn't quite imagine what she'd do without her sacred map. It had everything on it that no one would know unless they were, in fact, Parker Hassan, or someone else that was almost as cool as he was but would never talk to her.

"That's the library." Parker pointed to a large brick building on their left, and she grinned while circling it several times with her pencil, leaving a large black oval around it on her map. "I've never really been in there, but, I mean, it has books. You'll like it." 

"I'm sure I would've found it sometime," Emma shrugged, although with the collection of books she'd brought with her, she doubted she'd need a new one anytime soon. "I'm not sure if a college library is going to have young adult science fiction in it. I'll just re read them all," she sighed, looking up to find Parker with his arms outstretched and his face in a wide smile.

"This is my favorite building in the whole school," Parker announced, pushing open the doors to the cafeteria. "I'm telling you, Emma, this shit is, like, ten thousand times better than the shitty Ohioan high school lunches that mom made us buy every fucking day. This is the real shit. I've never tasted better school food in my entire life. We are coming here every day for the next week together so I can show you every amazing piece of godliness in this place. It's almost up there with my cooking expertise," Parker rambled, laying across three black plastic chairs. "I'm going to take a rest stop. You can come back for me in an hour or so, but...I might have class. Whatever. Don't get lost." Parker waved to his sister before she could even turn around, but she returned the goodbye as she pushed the cafeteria doors open and set out to navigate the campus on her own.

task 004: first day

Peyton buried her face into his shoulder as he had watched their parents leave the airport, sure that if she looked in that direction she burst into tears. Boarding the plane was the next issue. She'd gotten on tons of planes before, yet she still despised them. Ky's arm became her stress ball as the plane took off. She had been squeezing it so hard, yet he didn't complain. But it was Ky, he never would. That was just how he was, and Peyton was even more thankful to be embarking on this journey with one of the people she loved the most. 

The second the plane hit the ground, Peyton woke up feeling rather disoriented, a yawn escaping her mouth. Ky said something, but most of the words mushed together except for "you left me alone".

"I'll make everything up to you in Doritos and Netflix, fatty," she mumbled, practically falling asleep again.

Ky laughed, hauling her out of her seat and throwing an arm around her shoulders. "Deal."

Once they were back on solid ground, Peyton stretched her legs, wandering around the small terminal. She looked over to Ky, smiling almost unconsciously. If there was anyone she could have chosen to share this experience with, she was glad it was her best friend. Suddenly, she wasn't stressing about who she was going to meet, or the coursework she was going to have to do. All that mattered was that Peyton had her rock, and Ky was all she really needed.

Brooks' First Day

Knowing that his mother would have done most of the direction asking would have eased his worries tremendously. At this very moment, he had two options. 1--Ask the next person he comes across for directions to his dorm or 2--Search for it himself (He'd eventually come across it, right?) Brooks chose the latter because he wasn't one for asking unless he deemed it necessary to do so. 

After about two hours he gave up. His patience wearing thin, blood boiling from aggravation/frustration, and the strap of his duffel bag gnawing at his shoulder, it was all becoming too unbearable. He practically pounced on a random crossing his path for information. The person briefed him on an easy way to navigate around the campus. Shortly after, Brooks was unpacking his belongings in the room that he presumed he would have to share with someone, judging by the twin bed directly across from his. Even though there were events planned for the rest of the day, Brooks was beat. He threw himself onto the bed and sprawled his limbs across it, searching for a comfortable position on the not-so-plush mattress. It wasn't long before he caved in to the exhaustion of the beginning of his life.

Task 3 || First Day and Rushing

Theo wasn't excited for rush like his roommate and best friend Nic. Theo already knew what fraternity he needed to be apart, the one he would be apart of. Phi Delta Theta, just like his dad had been. Nic made sure that they were in the same group and the tours started going on. First was the Kappa house, then Sigma, before ending with Phi Delt. 

Theo and Nic weren't too impressed with Kappa, for Nic he realized it just wasn't a good fit. Nic was a bit more of a partier who liked to always be around people. Theo just knew he shouldn't even think about joining this house, his father looked down on Kappa and would disown him if he joined. 

 Sigma was throwing a party in the backyard during their tour. Nic immediately loved it. When they got the chance to talk to members and see how friendly and care free they were Nic immediately knew he would pledge Sigma. Theo wanted so badly to be with his friend and these people were very much like him, accepting of pretty much everyone. However, his father would probably kill him if he joined anything other than Phi Delt so he left Nic at the Sigma house to finish out the tour. 

Phi Delt was exactly like he suspected. As soon as they heard he was there four guys approached him and started talking to him about how great it was. He knew they were elitist and that at times he would have to be like that too but if he wanted to please his father he would have to suck it up. He told the guys that he was in fact pledging Phi Delt and eventually made his way back to the freshman dorm he shared with Nic. 

Nic didn't come home that night but came back in the afternoon of the next day, hung over out of his mind. Theo dreamed of enjoying his time at university but with all the expectations weighing down on him he wasn't so sure anymore.

MEET: BEN

Ben is every bit the future politician. He knows what he wants and how to get it.  Charming, witty, and armed with a smile that could kill there isn’t a single person that won’t give into Ben one way or another.  That is, not a single person except Ben’s father. His mother died when he was just a baby, and deep down Ben has always known that his dad has resented him ever since. This lack of parental love caused Ben to grow up with some serious commitment issues. His motto has always been, “love em and leave em” and that has always worked out just fine for him. He masks his self-doubt and phobia of love by never getting past the first month with a girl. Ben’s true friends, however, see him as more than just the stereotypical, smooth talking, heartbreaker, they know that the right girl will come along one day and change his views on love.

When Ben first started at UOL, he found his home with Kappa Sigma. The brotherhood that wasn’t all about organized fun could not have been more perfect.  However, he can’t help but want to chase after those Tri-Delta girls.

First Day

Stepping off the bus in front of campus, King shrugged his bag higher onto his shoulder, dragging his rolling suitcase behind him. The first thing he noticed was the lack of flashing cameras, and he let out a sigh of relief in response. His parents may have been world famous, but the obsession with the children of celebrities seemed to be solely an American thing.

He spent as little time as possible in his room; after spending the last week living in hotel rooms, he needed to get out and breathe the fresh air. He had been spoiled in Guyana, getting to spend most of his time outside for two years. He wasn't about this being cooped up business, and he had yet to explore campus. He heard there was an activities fair going on; maybe he'd be able to find an environmental club or a volunteer organization to join.

Almost immediately, he noticed that the most prominent displays were of the greek houses. He had never really given much thought to joining a fraternity, despite the stories his father told him about his Phi Delta Theta days, but it couldn't hurt to check them out. He walked past the Kappa Sigma table, glancing over it quickly, before he looked up to see a familiar head of curly hair, standing behind the Sigma Pi table with some sort of Greek god. King's eyes barely even glanced at him, though, because the curly haired guy had him captivated, the same way he had the first time King saw him in that bar in Brooklyn. The corner of his mouth quirked up in a lopsided grin, but before he could make his way over to re-introduce himself, he was pulled away by a guy in a bright blue shirt. King's eyes flicked down to the writing across the chest of the shirt, picking out the all too familiar ΦΔΘ that his father had displayed around their main house in LA. King barely processed a word the guy said, though it was obvious he had done his research on his house's legacies. All he could do was glance over his shoulder at the blast from his past, making a mental note to hunt down Carter Hayes once he managed to escape the Phi Delta Thetas.

First Day

She could've gone to Stanford. Stanford. Any of the Ivy Leagues that had accepted her would've looked better on job applications than the university down the road from her, but for whatever reason, she'd turned them down. In the back of her mind, she knew that going to school not in close proximity to her childhood home scared her, because the farther she went, the less control she had over the situation, but nobody needed to know about her underlying control issues. Not yet.

The box she was carrying was probably a tad too large for her petite frame, but she was far too stubborn to let her father tell her she couldn't do something. Her four inch heels clicked across the cobblestone path up to the freshman dorms, vision partially blocked by the box. Just a few feet from the front doors, she bumped into someone, causing her to stumble back and almost fall. Luckily for her, she could walk better in stilettos than most people could walk in trainers. She lowered the box to glare at the person, before realizing the person was quite a bit taller than she was, even in her heels. Nonetheless, she wasn't about to let a little height disadvantage get the best of her. She put her best death glare on and looked him straight in the eyes, unwavering. "Where exactly did you learn to walk?" She pushed past him before he could answer, sashaying up to the door without a backward glance.

The rest of her day was uneventful, as she unpacked and went to bed early. She had to get her run in before her 8am biology class, as well as her other aerobics and weight training exercises; it was definitely going to be a long day. But long days were Lola's specialty, and she had still managed to perfect her hair and the minimal makeup she wore, on top of arriving a good ten minutes before everybody else in her class. She chose a seat at a table near the middle, not wanting to seem like an over or underachiever until she got a feel for the rest of her classmates. She sat with one leg crossed over the other for twenty minutes while the classroom filled up, everyone seeming to avoid the seat directly next to her. She discreetly sniffed herself, wondering if she had somehow missed a spot in her shower this morning. She performed a breath check and a teeth check, even checked for raccoon eyes, though she knew the likelihood of that was slim to none. Three minutes before class started, and the seat next to her was the only one available. She began wondering if she simply repelled people, when she felt someone tap her shoulder. "Excuse me, do you mind if I take this seat? It's the only one left."

Lola glanced up at the much taller person, eyes narrowing just slightly. "It's you, the boy who can't walk."

He smiled--he had a nice smile. "Yes, that's me. Most people call me Max, though."

She smiled back, in spite of herself. "Knock yourself out, Max."

He pulled the seat out and sat down, setting his books neatly on top of the table. "May I ask what your name is? Since we're going to be sharing a lab table, and all."

"Lolita. Most people call me Lola, though." She glanced down at his binder, noticing a familiar symbol on it. "Is that a Targaryen crest?"

He looked up at her incredulously. "You watch Game of Thrones?"

"Don't spread it around." She grinned and turned her attention towards the professor, who had just begun his lecture. She bit the inside of her cheek to keep her smile from spreading too wide, deciding that it was ultimately a good thing she hadn't gone to Stanford.
