The Continuing Saga of Squiggy the Laptop.?
It's funny how life changes so fast... One minute I was alive... The next? I was still alive..! Ok, so change is relevant.
Squiggy, my laptop, has a new operating system as a few days ago. You may remember I tried to dual boot Elementary and Windows 10. But I wasn't in love with Elementary... Don't get my wrong... It's a beautiful OS! It just didn't do what I wanted it to. And I really do not like Windows... That's a personal choice though. So... Let's removed Elementary and install Ubuntu. I should have realized 2 things. First, Elementary is based on Ubuntu - so it still will be lacking in what I want and need. Second? When I had so many issues installing Ubuntu? I lost Windows completely. And Ubuntu was slowly disappearing every time I booted up. Even going to certain sites was corrupting it.
That's when I had the beautiful idea to leave anything Ubuntu based and try something new. I decided on Manjaro Deepin... Manjaro is Arch based. Though Arch is known for being cutting edge and lots of downtime due to rolling upgrades, Manjaro holds the updates for 2 weeks or so to ensure the bugs are done. Deepin is a newer Chinese OS and has a few bugs if it's own yet. Manjaro Deepin is Manjaro with the Deepin desktop. Installed, and so beautiful! But so different! I knew my beloved Asawa-to-be and Little Sis would have trouble with it though - because I, the techno geek, had problems finding my way around. So I thought I had changed from Deepin to another Manjaro desktop (KDE Plasma) through an alternative set-up... I was wrong... I had a few KDE changes but it was working fine as it sat. Except for yesterday. I couldn't shut down! I had to pull the battery! Not good! As I went to sleep last night I decided to install KDE from scratch. Yes, life changes... And changes..! This morning I booted Deepin to save my writing files and saw an update was due... Hmm... System update? Let's try it! Now? It's amazing what a quick update in Manjaro can do! Not only does everything work perfectly but I am now set up for dual booting between Manjaros... Deepin or KDE..! I'm loving Manjaro more and more every day!
