meanwhile, back at the ranch...

PT is going well. According to the therapist, I'm healing and recovering pretty quickly, I'll be good for fieldwork again soon. Yay! I love fieldwork!

sorry i'm so absent lately, that mixed with analysis and remote home work means my activity's back to being a sporadic mess. i'm tryin' to be here! but i'm easier to find on discord and skeams lately. hit me up if you want either one!

I suddenly remembered I started editing The Department for publication back in November (October? SEPTEMBER?? Who even knows anymore, the last few months have been a cyclone) and miracle of all miracles, the manuscript is actually on this notebook tablet instead of locked away in my I DUNNO WHERE IT IS laptop computer. So yay me, I have no excuse now not to edit and get that thing up on Kindle :/ So yeah, I worked on that last night, starting over from the beginning because I don’t know who started editing this thing before but it obviously wasn’t me. Three chapters in, Greta just woke up next to Shag-and-Bag Burns and YES this is the stuff eternal friendships are forged of, ill-advised drunken sex and the stupidly self destructive urge to ride to work together the next morning.

I also worked a bit on The Empty Arms Hotel and Rancho de La Luna and am thinking about doing something with The House Next Door at some point today. Once we close on the house and start moving again I’m not going to have this kind of time, so the more I crank out now the better. I think. I dunno, it could all be a disaster, would you guys notice? I mean, it’s all kind of like that anyway...god I need to start something unhinged again like Jack Montague and get all this weirdness worked out of my system. I said I’d never do another whackass Loki longfic but I’m starting to consider calling myself a liar on that one.

Great, now I want to work on book 2 of The Carmichael Addendum because that’s kinda exactly what I’m in the mood for. NEWLY BADASS AIDEN!! QUESTIONABLE LOYALTIES FAUSTO!! CLARISSA AND KAINE LOVEHATING EACH OTHER INTO OBLIVION!! Okay yeah it’s all about the weaponry and the fight scenes for me, I admit it. But there does happen to be an angry sex scene that takes place in The Gravedigger’s lair and the male half ISN’T Kaine. Heh. Get it archaeology boy. And the manuscript is on this tablet, hmm...imagine that. How lucky.

Anyway, here’s your update on my lollygagging life at the moment...hopefully something comes of it in the form of a postable chapter sooner or later.

I think I remember reading somewhere that there will only be 12 chapters, is it almost over then? Also do you have an estimate for how long you want SD to be?

Nope😁, there will be more than 12 chapters, definitely. When I did the outline of the story I didn't do the estimations right so maybe I said that some time ago. I think there will be over 20 chapters in the end.

For SD I'm not sure...the chapters here are shorter and I'd like to keep them that way because I think it fits the story better. But as word count, I think it will be more or less the same as for FN. The pace will be different though, because it's a different type of story.

Pros and cons of this Friday morning

Cons: Band teacher said we were meeting today but cancelled the meet 10 minutes before class started which means I woke up at 8am for nothing

Pros: Since I have nothing better to do, nothing to study, and only one person to talk to who is up at this ungodly hour, I can go back to working on teddy bear stuff :3

That’s right guys. For my two followers who I’m 90% sure followed me for him, expect a teddy bear update soon. Maybe I’ll finish his ref sheet (finally). Maybe I’ll draw a new picture of him. Who knows!

Nav has been doing very well lately! We’re all caught up on our lesson program and have had several good lessons and fair rides in between. We got to do raised cavaletti work for the first time and it confused him a bit at first but he was nailing it by the end! Combined that with some ground poles on a circle, which is a great exercise that I love doing with him because of how much better it makes him feel. Trainer thinks he can be brought back into a little bit of jumping without freaking him out with some work after his last barn shattered any confidence he had for it, so that was really nice to hear. Right now we’re planning to do some more dressage shows this spring/summer and might even do a little “grasshopper” eventing! Exciting stuff. My trainer also said he finally looks like he’s really in good condition as opposed to just “okay” condition, in terms of weight and muscling, and she’s happy with how he’s doing. Plus she gave us the go-ahead to roach his mane!

I still have a ton to work on, and I can get in his way quite a bit sometimes because of that, but I am getting better and working hard so we can both improve. I’m hoping this summer we’ll make a big step up in the level of work we’re doing, and I want to try to show first level by the end of the year. We’ll see!

Other notes: he’s gotten very very good and brave about walking through water obstacles and creeks when he used to outright refuse them, and I had my first under saddle fall off of him recently (nothing serious, I just slid off and landed in a pile of snow). He was a perfect gentleman, he just stopped and stood next to me the whole time, waiting for me to get back up and get back on. Best boy! Except for when he shreds his heavy winter blanket for no reason (but it’s warmer now and we should be okay without it).

#Riding diary-ish #Updates and stuff

There are 27 gosh darn entries this week.

Holy cow. I’m happy for the engagement, but with a contest like this, that means that there’s gonna be a LOT of decision-making on my end. Just so you guys know, I’m doing the ELD prerelease at noon EST tomorrow, so I’ll try to get commentary up ASAP during that. But dang, folks. I had no idea this particular contest would be so popular.

#updates and stuff

So little heads up, over the weekend I’ll probably be posting two one-shots (one was a gift, the other utter and pure self-indulgence) none of which are CSI adjacent or related; one being for Critical Role and the other for Dragon Age:Origins.

Regarding Vegas Lights I’m 10k out of 23k into editing Part 3, or Procyon (tentative title), and not sure of when I’ll be posting it. The explanation for this? The fic is almost a year old and my brain is giving me hell over it. If I’m lucky I’ll be over editing it in like a week, and after my beta has checked it the first chapter should be up by the end of the month, but again, I make no promises ‘cause I’m a mess.
