is a sociological concept used to describe a setting in which rape is pervasive and normalized due to societal attitudes about gender and sexuality.  In 2017, the term "toxic masculinity" was marketed alongside exposes of  alleged rape in Hollywood and the music industry. None of this is new. What is new, however, and quite distressing, is the recent seeping of rape culture into the marketing sphere. You read that right – using rapey references to sell products. Budweiser came under fire for its #UpForWhatever advertising campaign. A promotional slogan, “The perfect beer for removing ‘No’ from your vocabulary for the night,” was featured prominently on bottles of the company’s Bud Light beer last year.  No red flags were raised. 😒🤦‍♂️
