6.7.16 Today was the start of our London show - carrying on in a similar vein to the Portsmouth one, but on a much larger scale. New Designers welcome universities from all over the country, and all creative courses, not just graphic design. Having been at Wimbledon yesterday, I stayed at Helen's, which made for a far simpler trip to the venue. I got there, found our area in the labyrinth, and spent the majority of my day standing waiting for people to come over and wow with my work. Trouble is, that's what everyone was doing, and some with greater enthusiasm than I felt appropriate. It made it hard for everyone to have a fair shot at talking about their work (including myself), which is the whole point of being here. I only spoke to one person all day about my work, which I think was a combination of other people and also an unfortunate pairing of my work; right in the cranniest nook. Thus, I cut a heavily frustrated figure by the end of play at 9 in the evening. I spoke to one of the tutors Dan about both these issues, which I hope will be solved tomorrow, when I go back. Though it certainly wasn't all awful; when it's all over I will post some choice photos of my doings.

Show time! Our grad show opened its doors this evening, and mum, dad, and sister came down to have nosey at what I’ve been spending the last three years working towards! Oh, and this picture was taken before it was opened - it was pretty packed with guests! We also got to see The Bookkeeper - the film I helped develop promotional materials for - which was cool, and I was included in the credits, which was a nice touch.
The four of us then went for a bite at Brewhouse & Kitchen; for the record I had a pulled pork burger with chips (and a Kopparberg, natch), before we all went our separate ways.
Sneak preview #2! I'm too good to you

Today I was able to officially to tick off one project; I had completed the actual work for the Bookkeeper project a while ago, but today I had to give a 10-minute presentation on it. It went really well if I do say so myself; I spoke confidently, and wrapped things up with about 30 seconds to go. I answered some questions and that was that.
It was a timely confidence boost and reduction in workload - I am looking forward to hopefully seeing the finished film too, as the behind-the-scenes photos look really good!

I had the final meeting of my short career a Course Rep today; it was interesting but nothing major happened. I have enjoyed going along, keeping in the loop, and discussing some points with the tutors, and I guess it’s also a bonus for the CV.
I spent some time working on business cards (again), and even tried out my own typeface - derived from my logo - but I doubt its legibility. And yes, that is an orange in the logo.
I called up about my ailing laptop, and was told I should get a call back by the end of today, so watch this space. I suppose on the bright side, it will prevent me from continuing my masochistic ritual of watching Arsenal play; they have an FA Cup replay against Hull tonight, who they’ve beaten in the last two cup runs, but lately we’ve been shaky to say the least.

I had a lecture today which was split into two parts; the first was practising for some slightly tedious software exams we are required to take for our course - we don’t even have to pass them, just take them which does not in any way devalue them...
The second part was a short workshop set by Helen from Someone - that is the name of the company she works for; just thinking of all the potential conversations is driving me crazy, I’m not sure I could work for Someone...see what I mean?! We had to plan a plan for a would-be photographer who’d go and get some specific shots from the Cancer Research UK London Marathon, based on our instructions.
I worked with Lucy, and the picture above is what we came up with. When explaining it to Helen and the group, we said we wanted an image of the handmade bibs that runners wore with messages for loved ones. She said we were the first team to come up with that, and seemed suitably impressed; it may have been Lucy’s idea, but this was a team exercise, so by extension it was my idea too...that’s how business works, right?
