205 Upper Thomson Road
PASTA J. & OZ SPECIALITY COFFEE Restaurant & cafe for the night. <3 So good...
One Man Coffee 215R Upper Thomson Road Singapore 574329
This is one of those days when I'm too hungry to be taking nice pictures of this little cafe that sprouted up on Upper Thomson Road. Coffee shop by day, it turns into a pizza place at night.
I was quite surprised that the food items here were relatively inexpensive compared to many cafes outside, but the situation soon explained itself when the food was served. The servings are tiny, and it was hardly filling. Pair it with a coffee, and it fills you up about halfway.
Good thing was, I absolutely LOVED everything that I ordered - the brioche french toast was really light and airy, the jam and french cream was delicious and went perfectly with the french toast. Oh, my, goodness, I thought angels were fluttering around inside my mouth. The iced mocha was wonderful too, not too sweet, with light undertones of the bitterness and fragrance of the coffee under the taste of the chocolate syrup. Yummy.
My colleague's big breakkie was a little disappointing though, as for the price it was not filling enough, the bread was too hard, and the eggs were 6-minute soft boiled eggs which may be a bit of a disappointment for some who are expecting poached eggs. The rest of the plate were very fresh greens, but this dish is really not value for money, and one can find better English breakfasts elsewhere.
Verdict: Fantastic coffee and french toast! The only reason I'll be back here would be for these two things and the silent Tom and Jerry playing on TV. The shop has limited seating, so you may find yourself seated on the hot and sunny alfresco area.
Biscuit King 130 Casuarina Road
Wow just discovered this little gem at 130 Casuarina Road near Upp Thomson.
They sell all the old school tidbits that I used to eat in primary school, they even sell styrofoam aeroplanes and other assorted old school toys. From preserved fruits to whistling candy, you can be sure to relive some of your childhood here.
