UP PMHS participates in "Kythe Saya-sayang Magpalipad ng Saranggola".

To kick off the midyear, the UP PMHS has partnered with the UP Flyers and Kythe Foundation, Inc. in their most recent kite-flying event, entitled “Kythe Saya-saya magpalipad ng Saranggola” held last July 2, 2016 at the Amoranto Sports Complex. This event was organized for the child-patients, families, and corporations that have affiliated with this cause, strengthening the fight against cancer and other chronic illnesses. An origami booth brought by the UP PMHS and spearheaded by the liaisons was set up for the kids to enjoy before flying their kites.

Benefits of Running:

You'll stress less

Runners can provide tons of anecdotes about the stress-busting powers of their regular jog. "Nothing beats that feeling when you settle into a strong stride with a powerful rhythm," says Brooke Stevens, a four-time NYC marathoner, "The tension in my neck, back, and shoulders starts to loosen up, and I can think more clearly too." 

Many women swear they work out all of their problems on the road, and there's research on exercise to back them up. The University of Georgia Department of Exercise induced anxiety (no worries, it was with caffeine pills) on subjects and then tested their physiological and mood symptoms after either resting for an hour or exercising for that hour. The exercise (in this case, on a stationary bike), was three times more effective at reducing anxiety. 

Running is even used by mental health experts to help treat clinical depression and other psychological disorders such as drug and alcohol addiction.

Running slows the aging process.  Whether you’re 20 or 60, chances are you’re interested in retaining a youthful appearance and attitude.  Running helps keep bones and muscles strong, which mean you’ll be able to retain your youthful figure, exuberance, and endurance for years to come.

Benefits of Running:

Running increases your sex drive. Several studies* have shown that people who exercise regularly have more and much better sex.

Also, if you're between the age of 40 and 60 years old, a Harvard University study has found that you typically have the same amount of sex as non-athletes 20 years younger!  That same study also found that men who run, are more likely and are more able to achieve and maintain an erection, and that women who run are more easily aroused and have better orgasms.
