I'm truly hoping that this stays within the guidelines but can similar signs (fire & fire, water & water, etc) be harmful in social relationships? Many tumultuous relationships that I've had with people have always been other fire signs, mainly Leos. This last time, I dealt with the biggest egomaniac and sociopath of my almost 30 years, and I'm starting to wonder if it's *me*, or just my association with Leo's in general.

Oh no they definitely can be! Usually friends share similarities in modalities or elements because we want people we get along with to be our friends but in relationships we kinda go for someone to balance us because of this reason. It can blow right back in your face to be in a relationship someone who is too similar to you especially if its fire or water, they are feelers and are moved by conflicts of the heart. But its always nice to try to find people who offer you something you need because balancing doesnt result in chaotic blow ups.
