What's an urtext? Looked it up in the dictionary (actually dictionary<dot>com) and still unsure.

“ur-“ as a prefix means “earliest, original, primordial,” etc. it’s a reference to the ancient Sumerian city of Ur.

So when I say “ur-text” I’m referring to GRRM’s pitch letter for the trilogy that would become ASOIAF, because that’s the oldest document about the series.

Could Bran being crowned King be an idea from GRRM’s earliest outlines of ASOIAF? Could he still make it work?

Well, it’s not in the Ur-Text, so if it is GRRM’s idea, I think it’s one that came later.

Personally, I think it’s way more likely for Bran to be King in the North than King of Westeros Minus the North, because all of his emotional/thematic connections are to Winterfell - rebuilding it, rewarding the Liddles and the other Stark loyalists who kept the faith, etc.

I don't mind...

...getting the Superman origin again. Because it seems less like "oh the planet exploded and now he's here and now he's an adult" from before, and more "actually growing up on planet earth and learning to control his powers" which, I think, is essential for the character to *click* for some.

but also I really dislike how that era of Clark's life is glossed over, as if it's besides-the-point-let's-get-to-the-good-stuff, because, well. This stuff IS the good stuff. It's the best stuff.
