Thought I should give an update on Sweets as I've had a few people ask me about her. Sweets has been suffering really badly with mange, to the point I really thought we were going to lose her. Unfortunately because of where I am and how I meet up with the foxes its impossible to trap her to get her stronger vet treatment. Thankfully a friend that works in fox rescue put me onto a place where I could get stronger treatment for her. Now, it took nearly 2 weeks to find her again and I honestly thought I'd lost her, until a friend contacted me and said she had just seen her... so I got myself out the house as fast as possible (treatment and food in hand), but after 45 minutes, or there abouts, of calling for her I was about to give up and head home, then I spotted a scruffy looking rat heading in my direction and moving at speed... so I stopped and sat down on the pavement in the spot she is used to seeing me at. After getting some abuse from a deliveroo bike rider, which I won't go into now, I was finally able to call Sweets over. She was a mega mess, crusty, smelly(the smell of mange is stomach churning), hardly any fur, I really didn't hold out much hope for her... but she was hungry. She waited for me to put the food down in front of me and get the treatment into it before she came over and scoffed the lot, she even had an extra sachet of food before she ran off. A week later she was due a second dose of the mega strong treatment, but I hadn't seen her in that week so was worried I hadn't been quick enough getting the first lot of treatment into her. But when I got out, I called her just once and she came running along out of nowhere. She took the treatment good as gold. She was less crusty than before and the smell was actually bearable. She had 3 sachets of food and a handful of biscuits before she left. The photos are from last night, 3 days after the last treatment, the thick crust has gone from her fur, her eyes are bright again, and that horrible smell is gone completely and she seems to have her spirit back as she wanted to hang around and chase biscuits! 😊🦊❤ #foxes #foxesofinstagram #redfox #urbanfox #urbanredfox #britishwildlifephotography https://www.instagram.com/p/CJG8QNJn4pz/?igshid=w2zhtztcunmg
