Picked out among a small flock of Lesser Redpolls, this frosty, white-rumped northern version is a Mealy Redpoll. They are currently regarded as different species but that's up for debate! Either way, they're a treat to find while winter's still here
Little robin, all ready for varnishing! The paint is starting to move in an expected way. It is starting to make sense. Loved using layers, and using a warm base to start - who here prefers alla prima, or do you set up a base colour first?
British Robin is finally finished! My first truly mixed media piece, he was created with a lot of experimentation. Panpastels, pastel pencils, coloured pencils AND watercolour ended up making an appearance in this piece and I loved every minute. I miss seeing robins bopping around.
Welp, after much hair pulling and reworking the pigeon reel yesterday, wondering why the quality was so bad- had some strange settings on my on! Fingers crossed future video will be better. Finishing up my robin today- much better quality video!
Dragon At Rest. This beautiful dragonfly captured my attention as it perched on the end of a long leaf. Constantly taking off to feed in the warm summer air, it was a pleasure to finally see it peaceful for a moment. Finishing up on the last of the commissions for this year, and inbetween am still warming up with some pastel work. Felt a British robin was appropriate for the season. Starting to get the feel for pastels and I do oh so love being able to do lights over dark. Detailing with coloured pencils seems to work really well too.
