WE RELEASED OUR VIDEO ON “THE PAINTER” TODAY!!

We’re genuinely stoked at how many people picked up what we were putting down. It goes without saying that it’s an extremely controversial show, but we tried to stay even handed and keep it to the art itself, both giving the show kudos at the things it does well, levelling fair criticism at the flaws, and getting in our silly little observations here and there.

But the last half hour or so of the video is really just our love letter to the tumblr fandom that’s developed around the show, and sharing some of our own theories about why the character of Mona Lanius has resonated with a wonderfully weird and queer audience that the show itself likely never imagined would be there. We think Fanon Mona is genuinely rad, and it was our honor to feature a bunch of fan art, memes, and even animations from the really cool folks on this site who absolutely love this freak women. If any of you watch it, we hope you enjoy!
