Tell me more about Bragi! I see they might be a tattoo artist? :o
Thanks for making me realise that neither Bragi nor Urcoyar have a dang bio at all D: Oh no
Anyway, yes, Bragi (he/they) is a tattoo artist! Despite the icy look, Bragi lives in Fire flight, in one of the nomadic mining towns set upon the Molten Scar. Which means even dragons with normally lots of fluff wear it cut short, which leaves a Lot of lovely real estate to cover in art
Wing membranes (for dragons who have those) are the no1 coveted Tattoo Spot, though it's more on the painful side due to lots of nerves and complete lack of padding. But wings make for such lovely, large, clear canvases, even for smaller tattoos. And having intact wing edges are a point of pride to some (<- this differs from dragon to dragon and community to community tho. Some see smooth wing edges as proof that one knows how to keep out of harm's way even when it comes to physical labour, while others consider it a green/juvenile look or a sign that someone simply hasn't put in enough work hours yet)
Popular designs point to a long-standing cultural exchange with the local serthis, as they sport similar designs in their own tattoos as well as on clothing. There is no crossover in actual tattoo artists though - dragon tattoo tradition utilises magic alongside needles to distribute the ink under the skin, which in such high concentrations would harm the much less magically imbued serthis and at best lead to infections and scarring. On the other hand, serthis tattoo equipment is simply not made to be able to pierce most dragon hide (and some dragons seem to have the pesky habit of kinda just…absorbing the ink over time, if it's not bound via magic)
Oh that turned into a ramble, whoops
About Bragi specifically! He's a cool older-ish guy (human equivalent would be somewhere mid-50s) who loves his job and his Huge Scary Wife. He's been in a good few other professions over the years, some he genuinely enjoyed before setting his sights on something else, and eventually settling on becoming a tattoo artist (though who knows! Maybe in 20 years he'll be into glassblowing instead!)
He's trained multiple tattoo artist apprentices over the years but none have chosen to stick around to work under him - he can be a bit hard to share workspace with bc he can be Very particular about his ways and where everything should be put away. He's better about it outside his studio, but in the studio? That's his kingdom
Though tattoos and piercings commonly coexist, Bragi is vehemently against the latter, to the point of sometimes appearing rude about it. He's got a point though. In this part of the world, where most earn their keep and their living through physical labour in a perpetually burning landscape, running metal through your skin can be dangerous. All the more places for something to snag. Not to mention that depending on where you're getting your fire protection from, some of the cheaper spells tend to be buggy At Best when it comes to if and how they extend to metal that's in contact with skin. Better not to risk it
He also can't cook to save his life, but goddamn does he try anyway. Especially when Urcoyar is getting home late (she appreciates the gesture even if most of the end results are barely edible)
