A sleds, resembling aircraft fuel tanks cut in half, could shield a man from anti-personnel mines (excluding the bouncing ones). Course, if the tank drove into a mixed minefield of both AT and AI mines, this idea could prove less than desirable for the infantry.
The design, used in combat, ended up facing the difficulties described, as well as having infantry be introduced straight into what ever was ambushing the tank.
Still, would be nice to put in ear plugs, and nap, waking up for lunch a 60 kilometers away.
This defacto makes the Sherman the best APC of the war.
