Usability Testing Script
When testers come to the final stage of QA process, there rises a question: how to write a usability test script? First of all, any usability testing script can be grouped into four main parts: introduction, warm up, completing tasks and wrap up questions. Now, let`s look closer at each group and identify what exactly they should include. Introduction. Here you identify yourself and make a small talk. At this level your main task is to make a participant feel comfortable and at ease. In such situations people may be quite nervous and even a little bit scared, that is why it is crucial to make them trust you. Explain what the session is going to be like, make sure that the participant agrees on recording and sharing the session. Warm up. In this section you ask questions to break the ice and also get some background information about the participant. For example, you can ask about his occupations etc. Completing tasks. This is the key part of the entire usability testing process and it takes the longest time. It usually consists of 2-4 tasks. Make sure your tasks are structured and ordered properly. Then you read the scenarios to the participant, explain in details what to do and receive feedback. Wrap up questions.
