Knierim/Knierim are such a trainwreck, my god.
Thoughts about the dance at USChamp? I'm confused and everything was kind of meh for me
OK, keep in mind that I’m in a mood so I’m going to say it like it is (for me), no sugarcoating this time.
First I would like to thank @allaboutfigureskaters for being my hero and savior and supplying me with the Parsosn FD tomorrow, I need to watch that asap.
Now for what we are here for:
Manta/Johnson: They were fabulously gay, I stan. I loved everything about what they gave out there. But they have no speed and with the US field, they are going nowhere let’s be real. Still, I hope they will stick around for a long time, they are a breath of fresh air.
Carreira/Ponomarenko: Sorry, but the more I see this FD the less I like it. It’s like a duplication of a generic ethereal P/C lyrical program and Marie France is doing it much better in the choreography department. They also remain too frantic for my taste. They have potential (he more than her but it is how it is) but they need to be more interesting and soon. They are going places though, the USFS made it clear.
McNamara/Carpenter: I’m sorry but that was such a snoozefest. A well-executed snoozefest but still, they have no personality. They are still competitive because they get the levels but I do expect them to drop once C/P will be crowned.
Hubbel/Donahue: After liking it much more during GPF I’m back to not getting behind this FD. It’s like a bad take on what TS did with Moulin Rouge, starts bombastic and huge then transitions into soft and romantic. They are good skaters, might even be the best but this program is a no for me. In a season where they needed to take risks and really claim their spot as top 2 at the very least, they needed much better material than what they have. This might be my biggest disappointment by a Marie France program (aside from P/C programs) and we know she has so much better in her that I have no idea what went wrong with H/D’s material this season.
Chock/Bates: After watching this I think 4CC sliver is theirs to lose, this was much better than WeaPo at Canadian Nationals. The first half of this FD is fabulous and they really nail it, once the music changes it becomes less good but still not bad at all. H/D are the better skaters, C/B have the better program. Oh, and Madi C. has no poker face, she was not pleased with 2nd.
Hawayek/Baker: Let’s be real, their program can be trash and the combination of the Trampoline theme with In This Shirt will still make me sob. They did pretty good but not as good as in NHK. He’s usually much stronger but was shaky this time and her timing was off several times. Also, he is doing most of the work in their lifts and it shows. Still, this was a much-deserved bronze and good for them. And I hope Patrice was watching and realized C/P are (probably) being prompted for 3rd, they should watch their backs.
I’m out.
People can bitch about Gadbois all they want, but what they are able to do with their new teams in such a short period of time is impressive as hell.
See today: Hawayek/Baker.
USA commercials are the weirdest most cringiest thing ever for a foreigner... Just saying...
Karma is a bitch.
Sorry, but WTF with the Parsons switching FDs?
Did they go like “oh we probably have just one more competition for the season so let's change our arguably successful FD to a new one and flop”???
So C/P just beat the Parsons and M/C. We know where the USFS stands.
Also, just a point lower than H/B. H/B should be very worried.
