thinking about how i hounded snyder to return my (purportedly) graded essays to me because he spent a year scraping one or two points off 100 but still keeping me in the A range, but never told me what i was doing that warranted not getting full points. after conferences when i confronted him abt it in front of my mom, he said he’d have them ready for me the next day, and almost certainly went home, dug them out of his pile of papers, read them for what im sure was the first time, and graded them, returning a stack of them to me the next day. he had circled half the words i used and written ‘archaic??’ next to them.

#were they? of course. in the literal sense of the word. but i thought they were more fun and they sounded better than the words i could have #used.#they came to me first so i wrote them down. my essays could be read the way i wanted them to be. it was just. funny to me that he #circled every one. sir. please have a little fun #captain's log #but anyway. i dont think it counted as a good reason to take points off according to the rubric he'd given us. so. he was a bitch. and it #was the only comment he really made #no 'this was unclear' or 'expand on this' etc that might have warranted the subtraction of points in my mind #yanno #whatever he was burnt out and i was So Pushy but
