From Lumumba University to Bolshoy Devyatinsky Ln, 8
Bolshoy Devyatinsky Ln, 8 is the address of the American Embassy in Moscow. A friend from Zaire invited me to a party in his dorm room in Lumumba University. At some point, because of the noise maybe, we decided to go out and we ended up in Bolshoy Devyatinsky Ln, 8. Inside the facility was located one of the best night club of the city at that time. I was very happy when the marine in charge of the security only told me... Welcome to America.!!! That was my best hang out of my years in Moscow. With my US passport today that’s not a big deal. But in 1983, with my student “diplomatic” passport it was a huge problem. Not for me, but for them :)
Bolshoy Devyatinsky Ln, 8 es la dirección de la Embajada de Estados Unidos en Moscú. Un amigo del Zaire me invitó a una fiesta en su albergue en la Universidad Lumumba. En algún momento, quizás por las quejas sobre el ruido, decidimos salir y terminamos en Bolshoy Devyatinsky Ln, 8. En ese edificio, se encontraba una de las mejores discotecas de la ciudad en ese momento. Me alegré mucho cuando el infante de marina a cargo de la seguridad que estaba en la entrada, solo me dijo ... ¡¡¡Bienvenidos a América !!! Las parrandas en ese lugar fueron unos de mis mejores momentos de mis años en Moscú. Con mi pasaporte estadounidense hoy, eso no es gran cosa. Pero en 1983, con mi pasaporte “diplomático” de estudiante, fue un gran problema. No para mí, sino para ellos :)
