I was wrong fully arrested. I was treated inhumanely. I was disrespected. Unnecessary force was used on me. I was dragged by a state trooper (while cuffed) by my arms to his patrol car. This has caused me my career within law enforcement. Trumped up charges on me and lied about them because he was mad instead of being professional. I was in my Corrections Officer uniform on my way home from work! ( Which means I was identifying myself as an officer). He even stated to other officers that "she donāt need to be in this profession" which isn't his choice to make! Plus he was intending to tow my vehicle as well. All over him alleging that he saw me on my cellphone when it was the light from my Bluetooth device (radio).
This is the backstory of that day.
This is going to be a long. On January 31,2018 I was pulled over for texting and driving and impeding the flow of traffic. Driving without license on person and obstruction were later added. All charges are misdemeanor charges...... So letās start at the beginning of my day.... I was working at a State Prision (still in uniform when pulled over) itās a hour drive to and from work without traffic. (Note: Iām also sick during this whole thing) On the morning of January 31,2018 I clocked in at 0536 so this means I left my house at approximately 0430/0435( without traffic) which means I had been up approximately since 0330. I clocked out from work at 1858. This means I worked 13.35 hours not including the hour drive to work (1) also not including the hour that I was used to get ready for work (1). So before I step foot into my car to go home Iāve already been up atleast 15 hours. So now I have a hour drive home(1) (without traffic). At one of the last lights before I make it home I started messing with the options on my radio.....(at this point Iām just trying to stay up so I can go home and get up to do the cycle again the next day) At this point the cars in front of me have moved and my reaction wasnāt as fast. So, I guess Iāve caught the attention of a state trooper..... He pulls me over and asks me to turn my radio down then asks ādo you know why I pulled you overā and then he asks where is my phone.... āI respond itās on the floor and itās been there since I got off of 16ā. Still insisting I was texting and driving.... he asked for identification..... I didnāt have it on me that day. So I gave him my name and attempted to give him my drivers license number (I didnāt know it). So eventually I was told to step out the car. The trooper states āGet out the car or I will take you back to the prison that you work atāI was scared so I called 911 (the lady was told to hang up on me). This wasnāt my first time being pulled over (Iāve gotten speeding tickets) so Iām wondering why canāt I stay inside the car? I signed my citations and hand him the clipboard. At this time he gets aggressive because he said I threw the clipboard at him? At no time was under the impression that I would be arrested.... So Iām on the phone.... I called my Mom to let her know what was going on. I asked her to come get my car since he wonāt let me drive home. The the trooper says heās going to have my car towed (why?)........ At this point Iām on the left side of my car (which is the side closer to road) The trooper tells me to move before I get hit. Me not thinking clearly (because Iām obviously extremely tired and actually was slick) I stepped in the road said something near the lines of āWe all have a day and Iām not afraid to dieā (something like that not my exact words). I admittedly stepped out of the road after my statement. So at this point he assaults me and pulls his taser. While pulling from by my car he actually puts his taser in my face and says he will tase me (in my face). At this point I donāt know whatās going or whatās going to happen(I still wasnāt aware that I was under arrest) all I know is Iām on the side of the road, itās dark, Iām black, and he just did a use of force. Once he let me go Iām trying to get a way from him (because heās gotten aggressive and I donāt know what heāll do next) but I was assaulted again and ātrippedā to the ground. A lot of force was used. After cuffed I couldnāt get up so the trooper states āif you donāt get up I will drag you to my carā. Thatās exactly what he did.(drug me) (he was nasty and overly aggressive)
To be honest I wish that day never happened, I wish I never got pulled over, TO THIS DAY I still tense up when Iām at that light!
This obstruction charge has completely ruined my life! The fact that something is pending on my record even though itās a misdemeanor has stopped me from getting several jobs.....(Iām currently still receiving rejection letters from jobs)
I never knew I was obstructing anything or that I was under arrest. I couldāve been arrested without having a taser in my face and being forced to the ground.
