A 'help' question: this looks a good website for Misophonia, but I can't find the Home page. Is this site a part of Tumblr? Id like to register (if it's ony this Misophonia part) but not sure about what Tumblr is all about - Im only interested in Misophonia.
Also are there 'email notification/alerts' if anyone comments on anything Ive posted on here?
Im 'CatBar' - not really 'anonymous' - but not sure what Tumblr is (it looks too HUGE and confusing like Facebook or something, so I don't want that).
Many thanks if you can 'enlighten' me!
Yes, this blog is hosted by Tumblr. The homepage for Tumblr is tumblr.com and the homepage for this site is misophoniasupport.tumblr.com. You don't have to be a member of Tumblr to view this blog, submit posts, or ask questions, but if you want to reply to posts, repost easily, and have an easy way to network with other people who use this site you have to be a member of Tumblr.
I'll tell you some more about Tumblr. It's an easy blogging site that allows you to make quick text, photo, audio, and video posts. You "follow" blogs and all of the posts that blogs you are following make show up on your "dashboard" (the main page of Tumblr for people with accounts) in real-time. Tumblr also allows for easy communication and networking with people who are interested in similar things. Tons of communities have been created on Tumblr surrounding politics, music, TV shows and movies, culture, disabilities, religion, etc. It's become a combination blogging and social networking site, but you can use it however you like. Making an account on Tumblr would mean you get a blog that you can customize however you like. However, you don't necessarily have to post anything on it or customize it. You can definitely use it to just follow Misophonia Support and keep up with its posts, reply to things, and talk to people who also follow this blog.
If you would like to post something without signing up, either send it in a message (like this one) or submit it.
And yes, if you sign up for Tumblr, you can opt to receive email notifications, but I'm not sure exactly how they work because I opted not to get them.
One thing I want to make clear though is that this is not a forum, so it's not like there are separate topics that people can post in. People can absolutely share their stories or ask for help/advice on this site, but it's not designed in a way that forums are. Everything shows up chronologically on the main page. I made it mostly to spread awareness, tolerance, and information about Misophonia.
