honestly I'm just so flattered that u *grew up* with my fics, it's such an incredible honor. I've been there too, I've been both a child (I was 12 when The Lorax came out), a teen and now an adult in the fandom and I've seen all myriad of opinions regarding Norma. ppl saying all sorts of accusatory things and not even trying to spin the narration around and make her interesting. but u know, be the change u want to see in the world. I wanted to show Norma as an incredible, strong, kind, silly and adventurous character she is. I wanted to show the tragic side of her story, of her strong will and remaining kind despite the world. that's who Norma is to me and that's how I want to show her
