China Arrests Celebrity Actor Wang Xuebing for Drug Charges
If you haven’t already heard Wang Xuebing was arrested for suspicion of drug use adding another name to the list of fallen celebrities. Around October last year Chinese authorities ordered the entertainment industry not to show past or future works featuring stars that have been associated with drugs, prostitution, or gambling. This not limited to television, cinema, or online entertainment websites. The arrest has threatened the release of the film “A Fool” that could suffer the loss of over 150 million yuan (USD 23.95 million). However, there have been speculations that the film might still be released this upcoming May. A movie poster was released still showing three of the main leads walking with an empty space in between with only a shadow where Wang Xuebing use to be. Maybe they chose to re-film the scenes featuring Wang Xuebing or use another actor’s face. We’ll just have to wait and see.
