I I decided to make a tag to track its “userbestinme”
I’m lucky enough to have a Taylor follow. If you don’t have any or a lot of notices and you want me to try and help get a post to Taylor add it in the tags. You’re also welcome to DM me!!!
I have this super vivid memory of the day I got my driver’s license and how Taylor Swift played the soundtrack to the entire day.
Let me paint the scene, little teenaged Stephanee is 16, it’s her birthday, her mom lets her miss her last two classes to go take the Driver’s Test. She passes, takes her picture and once she gets home, she realized the significance of the independence that was just granted to her.
So she gets in her ‘95 Toyota Corolla (it was 2007, mind you) and with her iPod shuffle in her hand, car parked in the driveway, she’s debating what THE song will be. The song that will be the first ever song she listened to when she got her license, what song would be the soundtrack to the newfound freedom. Rascal Flatts? Faith Hill? Jessica Andrews? Instead she goes for an up and coming star who was her age and whose songs talked about all the things she was going through. Miss Taylor Swift.
She scrolls through the tracks she had meticulously downloaded off the super-slow internet on the weird rotary dial contraption on the iPod, it clickclickclicks until she’s found it, THE one. “Our Song”. Taylor Swift. Teenaged Stephanee smiles and presses the center button, the shitty car speakers blaring with the opening notes and she sings along as she puts the car in reverse and backs out of the driveway, her mom watching from the window.
For over an hour, I drove around singing to the debut album of this curly headed blonde singer who knew exactly what I was feeling, the windows were rolled down, the speakers hissed and popped every now and then, but it was perfect.
