buck stares at the coffee slowly gathering in eddie's decidedly non-hildy coffee maker and tries to quiet his racing mind, to convince himself he hasn't just blown up his entire life.

he runs through the events of the previous night over and over again—every touch, every look, every sound—cataloguing them in his mind, looking for evidence that eddie isn't going to wake up and regret everything; he's cautiously optimistic, but he isn't sure, and it might be about to kill him.

he's just this side of spiralling when eddie wanders into the kitchen, still rubbing sleep out of his eyes, and buck braces himself for—he doesn't know what, exactly, and that's the whole problem—but eddie just comes up behind him and wraps his arms around him; he tucks his face into buck's shoulder and mumbles good morning into his skin, and buck thinks it's going to be okay.
