I love listening to the radio, and we always enjoy discussions of current events on The Breakfast Club, especially when mature life lessons are being taught.
I teach at underprivileged areas with majority of my students being minorities. We teach students that human beings are ALL people on the inside and we base our judge of character by what people say and do, not by how they look or by the color of their skin.
Yesterday, I had two students come up to me (two best friends of different ethnicities). Upset, they asked me if The Breakfast Club was racist... they reiterated what they heard... the phrases "pale faced people" and "that's why you can't trust white kids" were put out into the universe for ears to hear... and for bullies to repeat. My students reiterated that they feel sorry for the adults on the Breakfast Club, because they have been given the gift of a microphone on a famous station and have chosen hateful words. I listened to this entire piece with an open heart and can see the message you were giving, about the system needing to be fair. I understand that part, how horrible it is that bad people are trying to cheat and trample over good people. I hope that The Breakfast Club continues to evolve and grow, giving positive, meaningful messages and consider not just WHAT you talk about, but be more aware of HOW you say it. You have the power of this platform, please send love and enlightenment, and not hate and anger. Thank you, sending positive vibes your way. #TheBreakfastClub #MissWays#SendLoveNotHate
