Last week Prof. Sierszyn took 7 students to the USITT conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Over the course of 4 days they learned about everything from airbrush makeup techniques (that’s our own Jordan Jones as a witch with skin airbrushed to match her costume and Kailey Vigil as a Cheshire Cat), to how to build a mold for foam hats, to set design techniques, lighting techniques - you name it, all things tech and design were there to learn about and on display. They met people who work backstage for Cirque de Solei, Utah Shakespeare Festival as well as Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Elton John, and Beyonce. To quote one of the student’s mother: “How fantastic that she chose an institution that has faculty who invest so thoroughly.
