The first childhood memories of Katya Echazarreta, who in 2022 became the first Mexican woman to travel to space, are from the city of Tijuana. This Tuesday, and already 27 years old, she can add another memory in this city: a mural that commemorates her historic achievement. “Tijuana has always been a very important part for me,” said Echazarreta. “My memory begins getting off the plane from the Tijuana international airport and arriving at that first house in (the neighborhood) El Mirador. So for me, my life really started here." The mural is part of a series of cultural activities to commemorate the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between Mexico and the United States.
