Seeing a lot of *hot takes* on here and I just wanna make something clear. We all saw the absolute shitshow of what happened to Pinoe when she first kneeled in 2016. If a WHITE woman could've lost 6 months worth of callups and relentless media lashing I can only imagine how much worse it could've been for 2 black women to kneel for themselves. The culture around black lives matter was slightly different then, it wasn't an easy choice to kneel at that time for anyone, much less black women who not only risked losing their jobs, but essentially becoming targets for racial violence that non-black people will never understand. I completely stand by Christen and Crystal's choices in 2016 to do whatever they felt was necessary to survive in the world. As a non-black person it is NEVER your place to tell actual black people how to navigate our own oppression period. They did what they had to do to continue to make change on the field playing the sport they love. As I previously mentioned, the culture is different now. Kneeling is literally the bare minimum for non-black people and to see folks on the team still not understand that is disappointing but not surprising. White liberalism and performative activism is nothing new to me. At the end of the day I'm suppprting those that support my community and look forward to the future of this team
