《UT2020 MAGAZINE》創刊號出爐,有文化就是不一樣 (TOPYS)
“You are what you wear.”
Guess who got accepted into the biochemistry program at UT Austin?!! #gonetotexas #ut2020
Advice to Freshman Me
So I survived my first semester at UT! Through that time I have considered dropping out 20+ times and the possibility of being homeless for the rest of my life. But here I am with a 4.0 for the first semester (let’s not mention how I dropped calculus)! Here’s a list of lessons I’ve learned...
Chemistry CH 301 Walker
-Be interested
-Review work before every class
-have a sheet for questions:
Ask TA:
Ask Prof:
Redo Problems:
-Do all homework assignments, reviews, quizzes twice, once to turn in and a second to solidify the concept and process
-Make summary sheet or “cheat sheet” with formulas, basic concepts, etc. of the topic at hand
- Be nice to the TA and Prof even if you’re really pissed
- Use outside of class resources to get help
- Sanger tutoring
Sociology SOC302 Penny Green
-Memorize terms
-Think of plenty of examples
-have a sheet for questions:
Ask TA:
Ask Prof:
Redo Problems:
-Review out loud everything taught as if you’re teaching the info to someone else
-Be very interested and see why it is applicable in life
-review, review, review, review, review till it becomes second nature to connect those ideas together
Calculus M401K Miller
-If you’re taking Miller, just gtfo of his class b/c it’s a nightmare
-I should have just signed up for pre-cal b/c it would have been free A+
-Get your work done as soon as fucking possible
-Redo all work: activities, quizzes, homework
-Write down all the quizes
-Go to office hours, even if you don’t have questions
-Please go to calculus lab hours
-Really learn it the first time, don’t just look for answers to put into the grade
-Don’t fuck up the homework, the .12 difference between an B and an A- will kill you 10 weeks from now
-Think honestly to myself, do I know how to solve this kind of problem? Do I understand all aspects of this concept? If not, keep learning
-Know how to do problems without notes!
Critical Thinking UGS 303 Laude/Thomas
-Make a plan for writing the essay
-Use resources on campus:
-The Writing Center
-Sources Desk at PCL
-Have friends look over the paper
-Rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, rewrite
