UtaPri Shining Live Advent Calendar 2022: A Prompt Meme

Hello, and welcome to the Shining Live Advent Calendar!

This is a project to celebrate the wonderful game Uta no Prince-Sama: Shining Live, the English version of which will be closing down this December. I've been an avid Shining Live player since I discovered the game in late 2018, and I'm heartbroken to see it go. While I'm hoping to see an #UtaPriMerge of the EN/Global data into the (ongoing) Japanese version of the app, it's still a shame that the most English-friendly version of the game will be ending for everyone.

And so I'm setting up a challenge to commemorate it, and to cheer on the merge advocates and archivers who are trying their best to keep the love for Shining Live alive!

Prompts for the challenge are open now! You don't have to pledge to write a story to leave a prompt: share the love by leaving a prompt with your favorite card or story, and inspire some

Writers can post their fics anytime between December 1st and 25th (with generous time for late work). If you have an idea in mind, write a prompt and then fill it yourself!

This blog will be sharing links to all fics in the challenge, (hopefully) at least one per day, December 1-25.

If you don't have an AO3 account, you can still participate! There are two main ways to do so. Firstly, you can make an account by requesting an invite link from me or the AO3 website. Secondly, if you'd rather stick to Tumblr, though, you can submit prompts and/or fills to me here! Prompts will be added by hand by me, and fills will be posted and/or reblogged here and a link to them will be included in the AO3 collection.

One of my favorite things about Shining Live is the stories, and I think some of them would make fantastic fic-writing prompts. I also think an event like this could be a fitting tribute to SL EN and also could encourage people to keep up the push for an #UtaPriMerge. Maybe it could even help to support the archiving efforts going on...

Would anyone else be interested in trying this with me? And/or helping to supply prompts?

Shining Live Global Termination

Hello everyone!

As you may or may not have noted, KLab has decided to terminate the service for Shining Live Global version with no plans to allow us to transfer our accounts to the Japanese version. Now, the fandom on twitter was not very understanding of that fact, especially considering the fact that KLab games have had server mergers before, and Shining Live itself, in fact, had the traditional Chinese version merge with the simplified Chinese version when the latter faced termination in 2019.

The important thing is that we keep persistently e-mailing them. As KLab is a Japanese company, sending our inquiries to the Japanese support as well as the English one may possibly boost our chances of success. This is why I made and shared on twitter a google spreadsheet with ready-made Japanese sentences you can use to structure a message to KLab even if you don’t speak the language!

Immediately after sending the message, you’ll receive something like this.

It’s the automated “We’ve received your inquiry” notification. The actual response from them should arrive by the following day depending on timezones.

Announcement!

Hi everyone! We would like to thank everyone for joining us here, on Twitter and Discord. It has been a lot of fun!

In light of the Global server's closure announcement, our team has decided to stick around at least until the very last event. This project has reached its first year this month! And while it's true that we are starting to feel the burnout esp. due to lack of staff, we had no plans of completely going away.

So… are we continuing to the JP server? We're not sure… Some of us are willing but it will ultimately depend on how many of you, the participants, can stick around. We're sure all of us are feeling many things right now, and we understand if some of us can't carry on. For now, we're waiting on how the #UtaPriMerge petition goes and what KLab's ultimate decision will be.

Hey hey! Been awhile huh? So…SL IS FUCKING SHUTTING DOWN. But if you can PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO SUPPORT. A lot of various archives, collections and petitions have been going around particularly on Twitter. If you don’t have a Twitter/don’t use it, dm me and I’ll send you petitions or the archives myself.

One of my friends is collecting shining live profiles in order to avoid them from poofing into existence. PLEASE our cutoff date is around November 30 as thats when special gachas and prism purchases will end and essentially every card will be free. So please do what you can. If you want to help but can’t let me know and I’ll do what I can
