2023年10月11日　東京大学　本郷キャンパス　伊藤国際学術研究センターにて東京大学グローバル教育センター開所式が開催。

今の学生・留学生、お世話になった教師方と交流を深めることができる機会でした。

東大がなければ、日本には来なかったかもしれない。

歌を歌ってなかったかもしれない。

デビューしてなかったかもしれない。

ゲーム音楽、アニメとの出会いがなかったかもしれない。

なんとも不思議なご縁について、語らせて頂きました。

Did you know I came to Japan as an exchange student? 👩‍🎓

If it hadn’t been for The University of Tokyo, I may have never become a professional singer, never had a major record deal, never have entered the world of game & anime music.

Strange turn of fate huh?!

What a joy and honour it was to be invited back to uni!

The University of Tokyo launched a new program “GlobE”, a center for Global Education which aims to support UTokyo students to gain more global experiences.

It was a very meaningful moment to be able to talk to the current students and my former professors. Studying at this institution literally changed the course of my life in the most unexpected way. As I say in the interview, Japan was a beautiful ‘accident’. There was also surprise performance at the end of the ceremony.

Purpose of the Blog

From the 2nd of September until the 13th of September I will be in Japan, taking the New Columbo Plan grant course EMSC3050: Understanding Geological Hazards. This course gives Australian students the opportunity to study the theory of natural hazards, as well as their real-world impacts and mitigation - all underpinned by local guides and experts.

Part of taking this course involves creating regular social media posts about the content we have learned and the stories we have heard, to hopefully help others also come away with a greater understanding of natural hazards and how we deal with them. Consequently, I will be posting somewhat regularly on this account (and others) for this trip.

Tumblr, with its flexible micro-blogging structure, works well as a medium for all types of post - the platform is a home as comfortably to aesthetic picture-collections, as it is to short tweet-length notes, as it is to essays. Its strengths in multimedia integration as well as its unique dual-commentary split between main-text and tags-commentary mean I will mostly be using it (if I use it) for any posts that do not fit well on other sites.

I am very grateful to ANU, UTokyo, and DFAT for the opportunity to take this course!
