Walter was born into a wealthy family and basically always had whatever he wanted. Prior to his family moving to New York City, the Lawsons were considered to be on the top of the non-royal and non-noble british elite. Edward, his father, was a well respected and successful businessman, Walter's mother Charlotte a famous and beloved opera singer. His childhood was marked with fancy events and visits to the theatre. While Walt never like the latter, the former was just to his tastes.

His family moved to NYC when Walter was 10 years old and have been living there ever since. New York was the place where his father built up a huge business empire that kept on constantly growing, soon to take some of the biggest companies in the US under its wing. In the years that followed, Edward would take Walter to meetings from time to time or into the office, wanting his only son to get a grasp on business from an early age. It wasn’t too hard for Walt to get interested in all things business and entrepreneurship, which prompted, years and years later, his choice to study management and entrepreneurship in college. 

Even before college, in high school, Walter was known to be a ladies man, sleeping around with cute girls and promising them everything only to never keep the promises given. While that gave him a bad reputation, he never really cared much about that. It was in college that he men his now ex-wife.
