She figured there was time to breathe after Deaton had told her to get Ethan out of the room and to a couch he could lie down on, nodding at the instruction that the boys might become disoriented again until they recovered fully. But Ethan seemed to be doing well and Lydia had left Aiden to recover, too, and Cora assumed that meant a good thing.
It felt strange to be relieved that they weren't dead, but she couldn't shake off the thought that, just like her, just like almost everyone involved in this mess, they were kids who were confused and probably would have been threatened otherwise; the fact that both Aiden and Ethan had stepped in on Lydia's defense proved that none of them actually wished any harm.
A loud clatter shook her off her thoughts, however, and Cora rushed back to the room she'd left Aiden in, immediately tensing up at the sight of his claws out and eyes red. His sight was never fixed in a single spot, eyes running wildly over the veterinarian's office almost as if he hadn't registered Cora there. "Ethan. What did you do to Ethan?" Shaking her head and pressing her hands firmly against the table he wanted to push off to the side, Cora struggled for a seconds before circling it when he let go, moving to his side.
She expected to have to hold him down until he was back to normal, but instead he jumped away from her when she approached, still wildly glancing around as if he expected something to jump on him and making Cora have to actually corner him and take a hold of his wrists. "Ethan's fine. It's okay - you're both okay. Look at me, Aiden. It's over." Cora spoke loudly and clearly, using all of her strength to try and keep him still and prevent her claws from coming out. He was still tugging and trying to pull away, and she had to use one of her knees to try and pin him down, focusing on calming him down until his eyes were normal again and his claws weren't trying to dig into her skin anymore.
"Where are we? What happened?" It was clear that he was still somewhat confused and shaken, and she couldn't say she couldn't relate; that was probably the most unsettling thing about it. Placing one hand on the side of his face to get his gaze on her, Cora's eyebrows rose. "It's okay. You're okay now. You're safe, you and Ethan. Okay?" Only after his nod did she pull away, standing up again and stopping for a second before reaching her hand out to him and help him get back on his feet.
