I'm really proud of what our group has pulled together for our final hand in. While I must admit at times I had some pretty major concerns for where we were heading, I believe our final piece expresses our experimental process and shows that we have engaged with critical thinking through our specific concept and exploration of production methods.
While this was never going to be an easy process we definitely made it tough for ourselves. There was for too much conceptualising instead of action and experimentation. We lacked a leader. I feel in creative group situations like that you really need to put your faith in someone to make the final call, or else in our case, you mess around for weeks on end without anyone having the confidence to really speak out.
However much to our excitement when it came to crunch time we managed to come together and collectively decide on a solid concept that gave us the direction we needed to go forward and create our film.
The final product is something I’m proud of. For me the highlight of the project was the sound production that was done by Hugh. We’d spoken quite a lot about the sort of music we wanted to have accompany the video, listening to various examples that we thought would work. When Hugh setup in the dispensary and began experimenting it was instantly clear that he was going to produce something incredible, and that he did. It compliments the film perfectly and provides a nice context.
I’ve grown closer with old friends and made new ones over the course of this subject. It may have been stressful and we may have not done it by the book but in my eyes we succeeded and I really enjoyed myself. It has also given me new motivation to get out and experiment with different forms of media and design.
