Women in Mahabharata - Gautami (Uttanka)

She is the daughter of Ahalya and Gautam. Once, when a 16-year-old Uttanka (who believed that old age had come to him prematurely) was crying alone in a corner of the ashram after falling down while trying to carry a bundle of sticks (most likely due to excessive labour in Gautam's service), she consoled him and held his tears in her palm. Seeing this, Gautam asked Uttanka to marry her.
