Sam strolled into the coffee shop opposite the library he'd been sitting in. He needed a break from researching the case he was on - how on earth was he meant to know if animals were shifters? He couldn't find anything that may give it away.

After paying for just a bottle of water (which he would've bought from the vending machine across the road, except it was broken) and a packet of cookies, he took a seat near the counter, glancing around to make sure nobody was watching him. Even now, he worried someone might recognise him as the crazy killer who took over America a few years back.

To his surprise, he was approached by a girl, wearing the uniform that matched the shop's logo. Sam straightened up.

"D'you need anything?" Sam asked, forcing a smile. Usually, when random people came to talk to him, they showed off their demonic black eyes then swung at him. But, thankfully, she didn't.

Isabelle whimpered as the coat was thrown over her beaten, bruised and cut up body, she leaned away from the redhead with a small pained noise, not yet fully conscious. Her broken leg throbbed painfully and her hair was matted with grime and blood, her body covered in more of the same. She shivered uncontrollably, even with the coat covering her like a blanket.
