“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
[ @electrumhearted; thread continued from here ( x ) ]
“Are you calling me a liar? I am positively wounded, dear. Here I was thinking we could find ways to stay warm. Together.”
“I can’t call you a liar, everyone knows seelies can’t lie, they just make a habit of skirting the truth,” she grinned. “I think we can find some way to stay warm together, yes.” Ignoring the fact she had a rune for that.
Teach him? Simon blinked at the choice of words, his eyes soon growing wider as his own played back in his head. “Oh–” God. He gave an annoyed huff as the word refused to form on his lips. “I know what I’m doing, Izzy.” Simon assured the girl with a nod of his head that might have been a little too enthusiastic. “I’m just stronger now. And… I dunno, maybe vampirism will have upped my already totally out of this world game, I have no idea. That sounded so stupid, but that– You’re not gonna get Star Trek sex jokes so I’m not gonna get into that…”
Well, that boded well, at least. That he thought he knew what he was doing when it came to sex. Probably not a virgin then, which also made sense because she couldn’t have been the only female ever to notice how to he was seriously hot, though Clary seemed blind to it, which almost made her feel bad for him. Almost. She laughed and that might have had more to do with the blood loss than him actually making a joke, but she laughed and then frowned, “What’s Star Trek?”
@MatthewDaddario: nerd Izzy dancing is the only correct kind of dancing.
though simon had heard frankly frightening things of isabelle’s cooking, he found himself nodding at her question. ❝ on the condition that i help you cook it. ❞
Her smile only grew as he offered to help with her cooking, Jace and Alec never showed any inclination to help her cook and then they had the audacity to criticise. “I’d like that,” she said with a nod.
GUILT flickered within his tawny-coloured hues. he did not mean to keep himself away from those that mattered to HIM. time these days, slipped by him so easily. most of it, he tried to spend with clary, while others seemed to revolve around the HUNT of the creatures that would bring harm to the natural world. & though part of him would rather not shop with his overly extravagant sibling, he could not deny that he did OWE her something.
❝ SURE. but nothing too serious, alright? ❞
he doubted that he could HANDLE a long & tedious shopping day with her. New York seemed to have far too many stores, that seemed to be more overpriced than the next. & she had a tendency to DRIVE him up a wall while looking at the different products they seemed to offer. give him a battle or a bar. but shopping? not really his strong point.
with a sigh, long fingers ran through his GOLDEN locks as a shrug formed on his shoulders. ❝ THEN let’s go get some food & talk for a bit. after, if you want, we can go see a movie. or do something other than stay in this stuffy place. ❞
Isabelle understood, she understood why her brothers were so caught up in their love lives, they deserved a chance to settle back into some form of normality after the literal hell they had all been through, but that didn’t mean that the gnawing pit in her stomach which appeared whenever she thought about it had eased and she also knew that it was, for the most part, made up of longing. Longing and jealously and a little bit of anger; not at them, oh no, she could never be angry with them, but anger at the universe.
She had fought so long and hard against falling in love because she’d known in her heart of hearts that it would only ever end in tragedy, in her being left alone and in pain, so she’d worried for her brothers when they’d shown signs of falling in love and yet here they were, perfectly happy with their lovers and here she was, in love with a boy who no longer even remembered she existed. And probably never would.
“We don’t actually have to go shopping, that was a joke, I’m not going to torture you like that.” She smiled at him, a joking grin. “Right, to Taki’s. I’m starved.”
He knew she didn’t mean to hurt anyone, especially him of all people, but he needed Izzy to understand him. “I know, you don’t need to say it. We all made the same choices and somehow it’s just you and I that have to face the consequences. It’s what we do. Jace has been through things that…you and I have never had to, so sometimes we just have to grin and bear it.” Whether they wanted to or not didn’t much matter at this point. They’d made mistakes and they could fix them, if they worked together. “I’m going to do my part of this, but I’m gonna do it my way, no one gets to force me into something unwanted. You do the same, make your own way Izzy, you’re stronger than I am so if I can do this so can you.”
There was a difference between grinning and bearing it and letting their mother walk all over them in order to raise Jace to the highest ranks imaginable. She was trying, that was all she’d ever done, she’d trained so long and so hard to try and become half the shadowhunter her mother saw when she looked at Jace, but nothing had ever been good enough and she knew Alec had to feel the same way, he got the same treatment, he just seemed to care a lot less than she did and maybe that was the truth or maybe he was just better at hiding it. “You really want to do this?” Her voice softened, she hadn’t considered that this was something he wanted instead of something he was being forced into. “We both know I can never have what I really want.”
Hey brother, do you still believe in one another? Hey sister, do you still believe in love, I wonder?
He was still concerned, but the way Isabelle’ eyes lay on him, he couldn’t resist but SMILE, even in the situation they were in. Magnus’ answer to everything seemed to be a smile or a joke, his eyes telling the story of how he really felt. They were still filled with concern; still filled with FEAR what Valentine might be after or what he might already have accomplished.
“And I am sure you will find out, my dear Isabelle. I could try a few spells, see if anything reacts, but I am afraid, you’re right. The most TESTS would only work on a living example. If our predicts are right and Valentine is building himself an army, I am afraid he will not stop changing the mixtures of blood. Nephilim blood may be good to trick the Wards and for fighting, but more Seelie blood will probably allow a better DISGUISE.”
She smiled back, lips quirking upwards in a mirror of his but her eyes were also a reflection of similar emotions, fear for her family, for her future, for Alec’s future, for what Valentine was doing and heavy with the knowledge that, thanks to Clary, somehow this was going to end up being their job to deal with it. In shirt, she had the weight of the world in the murky, nearly black, depths of her eyes.
“Unless he sends another one in, I don’t know where we’d get a living example since we still have no idea where he’s hiding. Somewhere large enough to experiment with things like this and large enough to create an army, probably.”
Max let out a small grin when Izzy ruffled his hair. Then he gave her a confused, and slightly annoyed, look. “But I thought that’s what you said you do when you go out…?” Why his siblings liked to be confusing sometimes? “But…” he started to protest. “If I don’t grow up, I can’t go demon hunting with you and Alec and Jace.”
Damn. He was so clever and normally, she’d be proud, but this was a time when she wanted him to just accept her lies for a little while. “Well, yeah, sometimes, but there’s a different kind of adult stuff that you have to do at home. Paperwork and filing reports, that kind of adult stuff and that’s no fun. Hunting demons is fun, the paperwork that goes with it really isn’t.”

“I don’t think our kind have any medical experts of the mind, besides the silent brothers.” Those abominations of nephilim even sent chilling messages down Jacob’s spine. “It’s also not necessarily my own voices.” But the voices of the dead, never ceasing to leave him alone when he walked off hallowed ground they all flooded to him. Especially in a place like New York, the dead waited on every street corner with gaunt eyes and pleas of help filling their mouths.
“Hearing voices sounds like exactly the kind of thing you should go to the silent brothers about.” They were scary and they were weird, but they had a job to do and they did it, no-one could dispute that. She didn’t like calling on them but this sounded a little like an emergency situation. “I think it’s worse when it’s not your own voice in your head.” She understood why he might be reluctant, though. To go to the silent brothers would mean letting the clave know there was something different about him. The clave didn’t like different.

❛ It’s a solid partnership, Izzy. Did you expect me to stand by & watch you become miserable because you married to some shadowhunter you can’t even stand? ❜ He presses his lips together tightly in thought, the corners moving down into a frown. ❛ Do you have another idea where neither of us will end up miserable? ❜ He doubt he’d be that miserable, it wasn’t romantic & no one seemed to get that.
“You getting married won’t stop them marrying me off for political power, Alec, it’s like an addiction and I don’t want you to end up married to someone who is going to make you miserable and I’m not the one who would be living a lie. Or, have you already discussed your situation with Lydia? I highly doubt she’s given you the OK to express yourself while married to her. Wouldn’t want to damage her perfect image.” She huffed softly. “No, Alec, I don’t have a way to end this where we don’t both end up completely miserable that doesn’t involve our parents being completely miserable”
❛ That’s great, Izzy! Have you too started making plans? ❜ Sapphire blue eyes warm as he returns her grin. . ❛ I’ll take that as a compliment. ❜
"Well, I mean, he only asked me like five minutes ago and then he had to go play more music, so not really, but it’s pretty straightforward, I’m gonna move into his flat with him, it’ll be great.” She bounced again. “That was totally a compliment, this party is amazing, Alec.”
@electrumhearted liked for a starter
“ Si said this gig will be like a huge deal. So, I beat myself down and have decided it’s time to buy a new suit for the party. I know, this is a big development. I just … I really suck at this hold dress up thing. Maybe you can help me out? ”
“Oh, thank god, I think your dad and my brother would have killed me if I let you go to this party in your old suit. You know how big of a deal this is to them, I will totally help you, grab your credit card, we’re going shopping.”
Kickboxing class. I thought, “Why not? Quick class after work. And, boom! Home in time to see you.”
