What I think:V Light has had so little acceptance in his life to the point where barely anyone has even tried bothering to get to know him except to compare him to the past hero. Does he even know the term aromantic? Does he know there's a word for how he feels? Or did he just assume that's something about himself that's wrong,another thing that's broken,another thing that doesn't fit,another difference from Rainbow. Another reason he isn't right.

What I say:I have to kill the elders for real this time

I'm not sure Arkion is gonna use real-world terms for queerness, so Light wouldn't know what aromantic is anyway, but I think he recognizes what he is; he's just been treated so differently for it that he thinks there's something wrong with him anyway. It's already hard for him to form connections, and now you add on the layer that lots of the Arkisen that he tried to be friends with weren't satisfied with friendship, and wanted something he couldn't comfortably give them. Not to mention him seeing how clearly romantic and affectionate his predecessor is. That love helped him pull one of the Nightmare away from evil! Is that what he's missing? Is this really just a part of himself he needs to push past to succeed, in both social life and protecting Arkion?

Been thinking about Venture Light and. This poor man💀💀-

Imagine being created as a hero to stop the nightmare but never fully measuring up to the past hero. Probably hearing legends about how the old hero was not only powerful,but kind,and friendly,and just generally amazing. And Light is stuck not being able to properly fill his shoes,not strong enough to actually deal with the nightmare like he did and not as personable either. He certainly admired the past hero,but maybe he sometimes felt a twinge of jealousy that he couldn't be as good as they once were. And then probably felt awful about it because that was the HERO,come on man :( and they're long gone now anyway

And then SURPRISE! Not only are they not gone,Rainbow is stronger and kinder and braver than Light could have imagined. Not only that but he isn't flaunting his hero prowess at all and totally views Light as an equal and wants to be friends with him. Also he's dating/friends with/who knows/generally weird about a terrifying mind reading hybrid experimented on by the dark prince and infused with shadow stone. Also in the roleplay timeline a player is here who also really likes that partner of Rain's. And they're going to save the world now
