The first day of school was always interesting. It was a complex mix of fear, excitement, pride, and sadness, for both parents and students, Charlee had decided.
She hadn’t been teaching too long. This was actually her first real job other than practicum and volunteer work. She she was so excited, but fearful at the same time. Charlee had been almost as or perhaps more nervous then her students for the first day. She just hoped she would do ok.
New students greet her and she assured parents that they would be fine as she stood out in front of classroom, and out of the corner of her eye she spotted a child walking hand in hand with whom she could assume was their father. The resemblance was uncanny.
"Well hello there. Are you in my class? I’m Ms. Lewis. What’s your name?" She asked, bending to the knee to address just younger one eye to eye. It made kids feel important when you spoke to them directly.
