"Oh no - again!?" Shouted a young girl's voice as a child - perhaps close to her teens - knelt down to assess Sanguis' injuries. She clearly wore apprentice robes of the clerics. "Speak if you're conscious, please."
Sanguis groaned, just barely moving their arms to try and help themself upright.
“I’m conscious…but I’m in a lot of pain…” They winced and their wings splayed out, flattening against the ground in utter exhaustion. “I hadn’t…expected anybody to call me.”
*sweats and shifts uncomfortably*
"I'm having my doubts about the Order. It's hard to feel at home here. If it weren't for that old man's guile, I'm not certain that I would be here now. I remember a better bed with a stranger who felt more family than foreigner. Here I find a fair bed and Brothers who seem as strangers. "
Janos died.
“…”
Sanguis stared ahead. Their white eyes looked at nothing.
“I left the aerie.”
Their hands clutched the edge of their mask. They held the mask so tight that their arms began to shake. Cracks split through the polished surface and shattered the finish.
“I let this happen.”
GONNA DO IT. HE'LL BE BALD-
“If he hadn’t feathers, what would I preen? I love taking care of them.”
A smug, nosy Razielim strolls up. "What does Lord Raziel see in you? Just another weird demon who doesn't belong here. Needs to be tossed back into the dimension you came from... whatever you offered him isn't all that great. He deserves only the best."
Sanguis’s brow furrowed.
“I am angel of a respected bloodline, I am not from Nosgoth, nor do I come from the demon’s binding. I needn’t justify what I’ve done for him, as me being here is evidence enough that he has found me worthy. Learn a little humility.”
i'm going to pluck all of Janos' feathers since you won't let me pluck yours
“Why would you want mine, in any case? They wouldn’t make craftable accessories, you can’t make things out of Shadow.”
Maybe that's a question you should ask Mortanius then. Press him. And if Janos still trusts you, press him too. They all have skeletons in their closet.
“Mortanius…If I can avoid angering him. He’s been fair to me and has regarded me the best of the Brotherhood’s elders, I wouldn’t want to ruin that. Perhaps, then, he will have the respect and trust in me to inform me of what secrets the Brotherhood hides.”
