He had been sedated for so long that it almost physically hurt to be aware. Muscles ached as the familiar numbness began to retreat, leaving the burn of nerves as they remembered how to feel. The magnekinetic was pale and thin, but an IV ran to his arm, giving him enough nutrition to survive for however long he had been there.
‘Track marks’ were spread out along his skin, evidence of multiple blood draws and chemical injections, matching the stitched wounds and healing scars.
What better way to learn how to control mutants, than through the study of one.
“Who-” Erik’s voice was rough and worn. “Who are… you?”
“Ronja. I’m a mutant. I’v been looking for you.” She explained briefly, busying herself with unfastening the leather straps that held him in place on the metal table. Gods, it made her sick. Not that she believed there were any no more, not after the things she had seen, things so horrible she wasn’t sure how she hadn’t lost her mind yet. Maybe because she was busy, had a purpose - finding him. And now she did.
“I’m getting you out of here, by the way. You think you can walk?” She asked after the straps that held his legs were undone and took his hand to pull him up to sit carefully. He looked nightmarish but not even half as bad as some she had seem, those she didn’t manage to save because she didn’t get there on times... She hoped she got to him on time.
